Maybe donations to
Notre Dame have fallen to such lows that someone with
big bucks can become a trustee.
Or it is a return to the bad ways of the past.

The board is already strongly biased that way. They supported Fr. Jenkins all the way when he invited Obama to give the graduation speech, and when he persecuted the faithful Catholics who protested it—with hymns and prayers.
It’s typical scratch-my-back kind of stuff. I presume it goes back to Jenkin’s predecessor Hester, and the Land O’ Lakes days.
