The only thing quicker than Donald Trumps maybe-run as the GOP presidential candidate will be the time spent wondering why he bowed out...
Political insiders [said] The Donalds biggest obstacle was not how serious he might actually be, but how to attract the talent needed for a serious run. For him to be taken seriously he probably has to come up with somebody with some credibility, said one long-time Republican strategist. I dont think he can run this thing with his internal Trump organization. Not that those people may not be capable, but to be taken seriously hes gonna have to come up with a serious campaign team.
In April, Trump sought a Christening by the Archbishop of Conservatism, Charles Krauthammer, only to be damned...

Very likely.
however, if I had to come up with an apt descriptive Mister Trump, it would be Political Flasher.

Obama sent a message to Trump By Sam Youngman - 05/18/11 06:06 AM ET
Donald Trump was probably never really going to run for president.
And President Obamas epic smackdown of The Donald probably didnt scare Trump away from the race as much as the idea of releasing his financial records did.
But through Trump, Obama sent two powerful messages: This is a game for grown-ups, and Obamas patience for the silliness of some Republicans only goes so far.
With due respect, I think you way over rate perceived commonalities with Reagan (where very few really exist) and you way under rate the difference with Reagan (which are vast, fundamental and pervasive).
“He bought political protection from NY socialists by demanding obambi produce a birth certificate.....”
nothing more...nothing less...this is exactly what transpired. Some big money was trying to figure if the pedigree is really an issue. I think it is..even to the big money-which can’t really afford a fraud.
Phew. I thought they were going to say he had sex with a maid.
These things come in threes.
LOL!
The Donald is a ratings whore! Plain and simple.
Concur with your assessment...he was part of the plan
There is little comparison between Trump and Reagan other than a certain set of skills. At this time in history, we happen to need that set of skills badly.
Well said!!! As I’ve been saying for a long time, until the GOP is willing to climb in the RAT gutter and fight them using their tactics, we are doomed. If our troops were as gutless as the current crop of politicians in DC, we would have been defeated long ago.
These are not the times for eunuchs; this is the time for warriors in DC. Spineless, gutless, Republicans will be losers and our children and grandchildren will be the biggest losers of them all.
In my opinion, we have disgraced our forefathers and we have disgraced all those who sacrificed to give us our freedom.
2011 is the time for patriots to step forward to save our nation. We know who our enemies are and they’re right here in front of us every bit as much as in foreign lands. Soros, self-serving, power-hungry DC Liberal politicians, and corrupt politicians at every level of government in this country are destroying us. Wake Up America before it is too late.
We must find warrior patriots to run for office; patriots to clean out the corruption and expose the politicians who are dirty to their core (you know their names); and fearless patriots to turn us around.
We do need those skills, which is part of my problem with Mitch D.
But I totally disagree that Trump has Reagan’s skills except for some over lap. Reagan’s ability was to point out the bankruptcy of liberalism, something Trump cannot do because he does not even buy into it. Reagan’s belief was in America’s greatness, Trumps in his own greatness to negotiate on America’s behalf. I find the comparison almost offensive in fact.
“I love to blame the RNC and beltway Republicans any chance I get, which is often. But thats not the issue here. Trump imploded because it was inevitable that he would. He is simply not a Republican and certainly way way way outside the mainstream of the conservative ascendency that is under way.
This happened because it had to happen. Period.”
I agree. If Trump had a consistent record as a conservative, I would have been supportive of his candidacy. However, he does not have a record as a conservative, much less Republican. In addition, he has thousands of scandals in his closet. If he became the nominee, we would have seen a scandal a day during the major days before the election.
We make personal attacks and and call people names on this board all the time when the target is a liberal, a RINO, or a cult-of-personality fringe candidate. In this case I am calling out two of the latter. Birthers seem to be tolerated in the FR but are by no means accepted.
As for Paulistas, well, that just speaks for itself.
Anything else?
And Roosevelt, LBJ, Kennedy, Carter, Clinton and Obama were not? Give me a break.
More specifically he was in partnership with the NY/NYC (where he has a great deal of real estate investment/projects subject to lefty oversight and obstruction) socialist liberals who support Hillary.
Never forget the birther issue originated with her crew, supported by the wife of a Rothschild. The PUMAs are still out there, as are elements of the dems who recognize obama needs to be gotten out of office, or they will lose ANY chance of political power for several generations.* Chicago thug politics vs. Tammany NYC democrats (and others in their wing).
*That is, unless repubs snatch defeat from victory’s certain jaws— being as stupid at the RINO leadership is- willing to play Kerensky with the dems, to fight obama/ lenin.
Whether sexual or ideological, conservatives demand a degree of purity in a candidate that is not going to be realistic at this particular time in history. I'm not defending Trump as a man or a candidate; I'm bemoaning the lack of strategic communications, focus and tactical execution among Republicans; this thread is a prime example of comments that are beside that point.
In an imperfect world, those skills at this time could have been provided by Trump better than by any other candidate now in the field. That doesn't make me think he would be any better in the WH than the typical Republican president, such as GHWB or GWB, whom many of us loved, but who made grievous mistakes along the way.
Republicans seem ever willing to throw out the good in search of the perfect.
