Halogen bulbs are not currently being banned, as they fall within the efficiency mandate for phase I. That changes in 2020, but by then the LED bulbs should be reasonably priced. Also incandescent bulbs greater than 150 watts are not banned.

Could a low-flow toilet be retrofitted with the inner workings of a Canadian toilet to use the desired 3 to 5 gallons? that would be a lot easier to get through customs.
Just a thought.

Hmmm.
The LED I bought was a GE, I think. No idea where it was made. I bought it online (at the time, they weren't readily available via retail) and it cost me about 30-40 bucks.
It's been a couple of years, no problems yet. the light is in a place that's really inaccessible, but is one that stays on for long periods of time - it's not like a bathroom where it will be turned on and off 30 times a day. I'm calling it a victory, so far. Anything to keep Dad off the #$%#$ ladder.
I'll give them plenty of time to work the kinks out before I invest $100's in LEDs. The 8-packs of incandescents that I picked up for $2.44 a pop will work just fine for now. :-)

The Federal Government by Constitutional Law cannot MAKE you buy anything....FIGHT BACK...find and buy as many of the "energy B.S.guzzling" 100-watt light bulbs you can find and stock pile them...China is the winner here....American jobs are lost once again. Remember when congress decided to make our toilets more "efficient" so you have to flush them three times to completely empty the waste? Remember the water efficient Washing Machines that require you to wash longer and use more rinses? Now the soap has been re leaved of real cleaning power....new shower heads produce less water so it takes longer to get the soap out of hair....electric cars cost far more to recharge, running up the home electric bill.
It is government that is the problem and people too stupid and/or lazy to think for themselves.

The circuitry gradually failed within months, one LED segment at a time. So, even though the LEDs may be touted to last a long time, the power supply may not. I design circuitry for a living. Trust me, there is only one power supply in the light bulb. If it failed all of the segments would go out. What you are seeing is individual segments failing and that is interesting information.

I was surprised too. The segments were shaped like pie slices. I think there were at least four of them.

The tank on a lowflow toilet won’t hold enough water. That is the problem you need to overcome. The guts are basically the same.

“Stock up on light bulbs NOW while they are 40 cents per, our climate change masters of both parties will leave us with this $40 per bulb option. That’s only X100 the cost, who can complain?
Thanks Bush/Pelosi for the help!”
This weekend ,I am creating a pile of 100 watt bulbs.

To be fair. It was a long time in the making. The enviro whackos with the blessings of EPA of course started down this path well before Bush came into office.
