Legendary rock guitarist Carlos Santana, in town to be honored for a “Beacon of Change” award at Sunday’s MLB Civil Rights Game at Turner Field, called the state's new immigration law "anti-American. "Santana took his turn at the podium on the field in a pre-game ceremony before the Braves-Phillies game to criticize the immigration bill just signed into law by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal Friday.

“I represent the human race,” the Mexican-born Carlos Santana said. “The people of Arizona, the people of Atlanta, Georgia, you should be ashamed of yourselves.”

The Georgia immigration law, HB 87, cracks down on illegal immigration by increasing enforcement powers and requiring many employers to check the immigration status of new hires.

Supporters of the new state law have long contended it's needed because the federal government has failed to adequately enforce the nation's immigration laws. One estimate ranks Georgia seventh nationally among states with an estimated 425,000 illegal immigrants.

Shortly after the game started, Santana met with the media in an impromptu gathering in the Turner Field press box after word of his comments began to break on the Internet and through social media.

He said the law is based on racism and economic anxiety....

Again Carlos, can you tell me about Mexico’s DRACONIAN immigration laws and how it treats its foreigners???

Go effect “some change” in Mexico. They need it as you can see why so many people have immigrated out of there!

Then as all places are equal to you, Carlos, go live in Mexico.

He's a great guitar player and a fine musician but NOTHING else.

Wrong. There are, literally, a million teenagers that are better guitarists than Santana. As a muscician, he's a one trick pony.

Ever look at the site ‘La Voz de Aztlan’? It’s the most virulently racist thing I’ve ever seen and I’ve been on Stormfront so it’s not like I’m ignorant. These vermin, whose numbers include Los Angeles Mayor Villraigosa and former California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, propose creating their Mexican-only state and then embarking on a campaign of ethnic cleansing to expel all non-Mexicans from the area. That site also says some horrific things about Jewish people that would make even a hard-core Nazi blush.

Why is it that, whenever Hollywood idiots, or anyone in the entertainment business, express opinions, those opinions are always liberal?

Is there something about being in the entertainment business which causes one’s mind to be liberal? To always take the liberal side of any issue?

Is there something in such minds which doesn’t care that you p**s off half or more of your audience, because you perceive yourself as self-righteous and on the right side of history and all that?

Is there something in the mind which makes you think that only liberals have the answers to societal problems????

Lets call it like it is. People like this fool want absolutely no border control whatsoever.

He’s the one that should be ashamed of himself and his corrupt home country’s policies that force able bodied men to leave their homeland to find work elsewhere. It should be a cause for national embarrassment to Mexico that it has to export it’s poverty to another country because of their corrupt economic and political system down there.

This whole situation should be turned right back on Mexico.

What part of ‘law’ doesn’t he understand? Perhaps we should be ruled by ‘feelings’....nothing more than feelings.... trying to forget my

This pathetic scrap of human debris is just trying to make someone, ANYONE notice him.

Last time he addressed a group, he wet himself...

In Hollywood there’s a nice facility called “Homey Home For Has-Been Stars” -they include a diaper service too!

Santana should be deported.

He’s an OVER-RATED guitarist, too.

Fight the conquistadors and their imperialist territorial expansions of oppression!

Long live the resistance!

Funny thing that. Were there no Conquistadors to begin with, there'd have been no "Carlos Santana."

The guy has been playing the same lick for over 40 years.

Yeah, the same guitar lick (he is one of the most predictable guitar players I've ever heard) and the same liberal big-mouth lick....

Part of it is that artists consider what they do goes beyond borders. Hollywood movies make more money overseas than domestically, so it’s in their interest to have celebrities portray themselves as “Citizens of the World.”

Carlos is a great guitar player but he is not too smart. Carlos, don’t lecture us, lecture Mexico. At least we don’t shoot them coming over our southern border.

KMA, Carlos (and that doesn't mean "Kentucky Military Academy"). You're a helluva guitar player, but you're the one who's un-American.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
