I don’t think Trump suffers from the delusion that the Corsi book is going to do anything change anything or reveal anything.

As a generality, that sounds good. If you are a business person, negative publicity that affects your bottom line is not a good thing.

You cited a media drubbing not business losses. Have his business interests been negatively affected by his "run?"

Easy. Trump dealt with George Soros. That was going to kill his campaign. Both the left and right would be coming after him hard on it.

Exactly, he's a PROMOTER akin to Don King, actually a great way to promote the "Trump" brand!

The fact that Trump was able to con a lot of people into believing he might run goes to show just how effective of a promoter Trump is. The guy is a genius, he had a lot of suckers hanging on his every word.

Trump brought forth alot of things that needed addressing Not least among these were the birth certificate issue which has grown another set of legs. I hope he doesn’t completely dissociate himself from getting at the bottom truth on the issue. Trump had a lot of baggage to clear out before being a representative for/of many, many average USA citizens. That being said I hope he plays an active role in the future of this Nation.

I have no inside information on Trumps’ business interests. I read that ratings were down on his tv show. I read that 60 Minutes did a hit piece on his condos. I saw alot of ridicule on the late night tv shows and elsewhere, similar to what was done to Palin. I have read things alot of negative things on this website about his motives. I am speculating that the overall effect was showing up on his bottom line....

Trump brought forth alot of things that needed addressing Not least among these were the birth certificate issue which has grown another set of legs.

Except that the people I see pushing Trump and the birther stuff were the exact same people I saw pushing the birther stuff in 2008. Trump was just another name for them to latch on to.

I hope he doesn’t completely dissociate himself from getting at the bottom truth on the issue.

He's done with the issue - he hops around to whatever can get his name in the media and get new fans. That's what he does. He'll probably make a few token comments to keep the birthers following him, but you'll see him doing other things to promote himself, because that's what he's always done - he uses people and issues to promote himself and then tosses them aside when he finds something new.

Trump had a lot of baggage to clear out before being a representative for/of many, many average USA citizens. That being said I hope he plays an active role in the future of this Nation.

That "baggage" you talk about is not the stuff that is easily cleared out because it's a part of his personality and brand, and I doubt that he even cares about clearing it out. It's made him what he is. He's not going to repent or change his womanizing ways because that's a part of his image. He goes through women or he makes big statements that grab the media's attention and then he moves on to other things.

That is who he is and I can't believe you would think he'd have any interest in cleaning up that image or clearing out that baggage as you put it. The moment he changes that image (or clears out that "baggage") is the moment in which he's done and the media stops paying attention to him.

See here.

The biggest obstacle to liberty are the people who fret over what the enemy says or thinks, IMO.

The next person that needs to decide NOT to run is Sarah Palin, why with all her weaknesses do so many FReepers still think she is the one and only POTUS candidate for the GOP in 2012 or anytime thereafter?

I don’t share what seems to be your cynicism about the birther issue. All facts/issues relative to Obama usurping the eligibility issue for POTUSA is a good thing for historical lessons. As for me the sooner Obama is exposed as a usurper the better it will be. That his latest bc presentation has caused a furor of interest and even crticizim should be a welcomed event by anyone who feels the damage being done to this Nation.

I wouldn't say it was so much cynicism as it was realism - I didn't see a lot of new converts to the birther cause. The people I knew that were making a big deal out of Trump going after the birther stuff were the same ones that were making a big deal out of it long before now. They were the same people that got angry at Glenn Beck for mocking them in 2008 and calling them un-American, they were the same people that got angry at Bill O'Reilly when he came out multiple times in 2008 and 2009 and said there was nothing to the birther stuff. I didn't see people who weren't already on the birther bandwagon suddenly coming out supporting it simply because Trump was talking about it.

Trump was not going to run. He was not going to reveal his financial records like he promised, he was not going to give up the kind of control over his life that running for President would require, and the financial records were a part of that. He was not going to give up the financial prospects that would be tied to running for President as well.

Running for President and possibly winning would really put a huge crimp in his financial wheelings and dealings. People forget that he's 64 or 65 years old and giving up a five year chunk of his life where he couldn't do much financially at this stage of his life would drive somebody like him nuts.

The thing that really bothers me is that his personal life is just sleazy as Hell, and I'm very saddened by the people who jumped on his short little bandwagon, because some of those people I know are otherwise very moral people. Good Christians. They tossed their morals aside just because somebody famous gave them a little attention, and it's troublesome. You can't discard your morals simply because somebody talks about an issue dear to you. We've got a big enough problem electing public officials who turn out to be sleazy, we shouldn't be supporting celebrities that we KNOW are sleazy.

He is doing a great job speaking out on issues that the
politicians will not cover.
