First it was Huckabee. Now Trump.
Now if we can sweep Romney and Newt out of the way - the GOP field will look a lot better.
They're not even in the way.
The only way Newt is in the way, is as a tripping hazard. The man has no chance -- his candidacy is an exercise in narcissism. He's Clinton without the charm; Obama without the melanin.
As for Romney .... well, the man has had the field pretty much to himself for a long time, and has failed (like everybody else) to get big-name/big-money support for his campaign. There's something about him that gives him a very real "ick" factor. He's going nowhere.
They're not without their uses, though. Both of them are articulate and can be engaging speakers at times. It would be good if by their presence they could force real debate on various important issues. But the silliness of modern presidential politics is such that I won't hold my breath.
