As the interest in counter-terrorism soars, the Walt Disney Company is attempting to trademark the name Navy Seal Team 6, the unit responsible for taking down Osama Bin Laden. Counter-terrorism is becoming a big market since the death of Osama Bin Laden and it appears the Walt Disney Company is ready to cash in. Disney is currently trying to trademark the name Navy Seal Team 6, the unit responsible for killing Bin Laden.
On May 3, just one day after the news was out about the death of Bin Laden, Disney applied to trademark the name Seal Team 6. The trademark application covers an array of items including clothing, head wear, footwear, games, toys and entertainment and education services...
On Friday, Disney was not available to comment about its application to trademark the term Seal Team 6. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney is the the first company to trademark SEAL Team 6. The previous owner, NovaLogic, Inc., abandoned two associated trademarks in 2006.
Nova Logic is a privately-owned company founded in 1985 and a developer and global publisher of computer games for the PC. The trademarks they had for Seal Team 6 focused on video and computer gaming. Records reveal the trademarks were originally acquired in 2002 and 2004.
ScreenJunkies reported Disney could possibly use the trademark to create a cartoon movie featuring the Navy Seals taking out Bin Laden. They also revealed movies about Bin Laden are definitely in the making...
It is unknown whether Disney will get the trademarks for Navy Seal Team 6 it applied for right after the demise of Osama Bin Laden. If Disney get the trademarks, there is sure to be plenty of press and merchandise about Seal Team 6.
I want to dump what little interest in Disney I ever had. Disney is depraved.
Disney is EXTREMELY ‘gay friendly’ to the point where it is almost a requirement to work there anymore
Leftie loonies, all of them
Disney corp. has its nose firmly embedded between the government’s and Michelle Obama’s extravagant buttcheeks with the ‘move it’ rubbish. The PSA add runs a couple of times every hour.
These people are like roaches the way they creep in everywhere if they are not put down.
So hokay, who gets to trademark “Osama Bin Ladin”?
Gee, that ought to give al Qaeda a whole new interest in “visiting” Disney World
Talk about pinning a bullseye on your backside
They have fag nights..I mean, gay nights in Disneyland during October. Then again, there’s a news item that Donald Duck a week ago felt a woman customer and is being sued, so maybe they’re not all homos.
I would sooner that Barack Obama got the trademark rights, than Disney. Even better yet it should belong to the Pentagon.
Disney can try, but upon legal challenge will fail.
They could call them “Rainbow six”. :)

Get ‘em, Guys. They really are all bad.
If Disney makes a movie about the death of OBL which version will they use?
I would fully support this idea if every single dollar created from the use of seal team 6 went to our servicemen or thier families.Im not talking profits, profits can be manipulated into nonexistance.I mean every single solitary dime that is created anywhere from the use of that name or any similarity to that name. Then lets see how fast they want it.
What about the SEAL team 6 songs for the movie and Disneyland rides? “ho ho, ho ho, off to kill Osama we go”
“bibbity bobbity boo, got terrorist blood on our shoes”
“Under the sea, under the sea, For corpses it’s better down where it’s wetter”
“when you wish upon a star, even up in Kandahar”
Cd sold separately...
I hope this is the case, not that Disney won’t try its utmost to pettifog the issue. Why, though, was the previous registration granted for “Seal team 6” (that ended up never being used and abandoned)? Was it just ignorance on part of the USPTO? You’d think the Pentagon would have noticed and complained.
I’m just not very happy about the Mouse company any more. Not just for its role in extending the term of corporate copyrights to ridiculous lengths outlasting several generations, but one of its Nashville-based subsidiaries weaseled out of honoring a contract in the subsidiary’s name to a friend for purchasing a song. When the friend showed up, he was told “oh, that person doesn’t work here any more.” Now if my friend had a lot of dough he would sue, but what do ya do about small-time shafts like this?
Butt Pirates of California?
Whenever there’s money, opportunists, greed, lawyers and people without ethics involved it will suck and there’s not much we can do about it.
So, as they say in the service, “embrace the suck”!
Will Disney please butt out of our business?
