The actual title of the artilce did *not* include the parenthetical “(Actual Title)”.
My point was that the title box is always supposed to include the actual title of the article, and only the actual title of the article.
So I find it rather amusing (and, I admit, often annoying) that the forum has gotten to the point where someone feels the need to clarify, with an added personal parenthetical, that the title box, which is supposed to contain only the actual title of the article, does, in fact, contain the actual title of the article (plus the added personal parenthetical by the poster)!
More a comment on the general posting habits of some than on this particular thread.
(But still don’t get why this actual title had to be identified as the actual title. :0)
The urge to add “clarifiers,” “explanations,” editorial comments, snark, what-it-really-means, my-take-on-this-is, you-won’t-get-this-unless-I-explain-it, OMG’s and the like **to the title box**, as opposed to putting one’s comments in the comment box, has gone way too far in the forum, IMO.

Your conception of the rules are wrong. Parenthesis have always been allowed, always has been part of FR. You might hate it, I hate the long editorial titles, but, that’s the way it’s always been.
You need to get over it. I HATE, HATE, HATE barf alerts, I don’t whine to everyone about it. It’s part of the forum.
Move on, and ignore it. You’re making a mountain out of a molehill.

After he was ‘used’ by the Jets. MN got damaged goods. My point is, it would have been fabulous if he would have been a pure Packer. I agree. He would have been SO HUGE if his retired as a pure Packer, now, this junk will follow him forever. Can you imagine the kid following? How many athletes have this career at one team? Bret Farve was a once in a life time, and he blew his last days. That’s sad.

All I intended was a little snark about how so many posters DON’T post the actual title, so it was both ironic and humorous to see a title that was labeled “actual title.”
Of course, you could have made that point in the comment box, but I just made my little remark and moved on, as you so kindly have suggested in your multiple posts. When asked by another poster about my remark, I was glad to civilly clarify my point of view. Which I will continue to express when I think it’s appropriate — just like everyone else here.

I have watched this get worse for several years now and finally decided to speak up when a parenthetical actually screwed up search so bad, I had to use google to find the article I was looking for on FR.

As I explained in another post to you, all I was doing was snarking on what happens in other threads. I didn’t mean to offend you, nor was I commenting on your particular parenthetical. I can see that was unclear and I apologize.
This thread actually was a funny one to put a parenthetical one. It's just that I couldn't resist commenting on the fact that, anyway, the title box SHOULD ALWAYS have only the ACTUAL title.
Be that as it may . . . to the larger point . . .
The more some posters do this, the more it gets done across the board. Hence necessitating, in my view, the need, finally, to speak up.
You ask why it bothers me so much. I ask why it bothers posters who do this constantly so much, when all they are asked nicely and civilly to do is to simply do the rest of us a favor and put their comments in the comment box. At least on most posts. How hard is that?

And things that are "allowed" may still be abused or, at the minimum, unhelpful. There's nothing wrong (or "whiney") about civilly voicing an opinion that the forum would be a much better place without the "bozo AP sock puppet press blows it again, mega barf hurt alert!" comments being added in 50% of the title boxes.
That's why I nicely put my views in my tagline rather than voicing my opinion in posts on multiple threads per day.
