Key medical providers have taken a stand against Obamacare's initial blueprint so complex it's unworkable. Earlier this spring, the administration released the long-awaited draft regulations for "accountable care organizations," (ACO). These networks of doctors and hospitals would collaborate to keep Medicare patients healthier and share in the savings with taxpayers. Obama's health care overhaul law envisioned that hundreds of such ACO's would be quickly set up around the county to lead a bottom-up reform of America's bloated health care system. However, in an unusual rebuke, a consortium representing premier organizations such as the Mayo Clinic sent a position papaer to the administration indicating that more than 90 percent of its members would not participate, because the rules as written are so onerous it would be nearly impossible for them to succeed. Donald Fisher, president of the American Medical Group Association, which represents nearly 400 large medical groups around the country providing care for roughly 1 in 3 Americans said "It's not just a simple tweak, it's a significant change that needs to be made." The Consortium includes the Cleveland Clinic, Intermountain Healthcare in Utah, and Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania, had been seen as the vanguard for accountable care. In fact Mr Obama had singled out several of these members as examples of models of what he wanted for the nation The medical groups say they are worried they will be stuck for losses, that the government has designed rules that make it very difficult to tell which patients are part of the program, and that there's no reliable way to adjust for patients who are sicker and require closer follow-up and more expensive treatments. The deadline for public comments on the proposed regulations is still weeks away, but Fisher said "we needed to get their attention early on, so (the administration) could be thinking about how major changes are needed to make these regulations viable." Medicare spokesman Brian Cook said the agency is doing extensive outreach to explain and take feedback on the regulations and that "we will carefully consider this input. We are confident that providers' decisions on whether to participate in the program will be made on the basis of the final rule, which will reflect the feedback we receive."
Many in the health care industry were silent partners backing Obama's overhaul law, but disappointment over the accountable care rules has put a chill into the relationship.
Democrats are unable to understand what happens when medical care is cut back on a particular patient for the purpose of "sharing the savings". After all, Democrats themselves never share ~

Did this AP writer EVER take an English course?
No Obama programs will work except the graft and payoffs to his buddies. He should be jailed.
It’s already creating a blizzard of paperwork at my company. This thing is going to be a disaster. There is only one thing that will be good about Obamacare, and that is the fact that because people’s health care costs are NOT going to go down (infact almost everyone with a job will be paying much more), and this pig of a bill is firmly associated to Obama and the Democratic party, it should be an electoral boon for us in 2012 and beyond. The problem is, it will be almost impossible to get rid of Obamacare the longer it exists and sinks its claws into every aspect of our healthcare system.
Hey, complex plans produce complex stands...?
Nah.... that’s not it.
...the administration released the long-awaited draft regulations for "accountable care organizations," (ACO). Obama's health care overhaul law envisioned that hundreds of such ACO's would be quickly set up around the county to lead a bottom-up reform of America's bloated health care system. Democrats have made a lot of promises that will be VERY difficult for them to keep.
IMO, every politician that voted for this reprehensible DeathCare against the wishes of the American people must be voted out of office.
Government ponzi schemes like social security are dead, no money so they are inventing other ponzi schemes to once again to restore the barrel of endless money to steal.
I am a medical provider and I know of several hundred physicians that would rather retire than work under Obamacare. The care won’t be better, it will be worse with severe rationing. Greg Eagle
Obama and all supporters of Obamacare can go to hell.
So the Mayo Clinic and others are objecting that "the rules as written are so onerous it would be nearly impossible for them to succeed."
Apparently it took a long time for these large hospitals, HMO's and insurers to see that the purpose of ObamaCare is to drive them out of existence and replace them with government entities, just like the regime did with GM, Chrysler, etc. Now in addition to quibbling about the regulations the Obamatons are writing to implement their impending disaster, why don't these "premiere" health care organizations have the guts to endorse complete repeal of ObamaCare?
Goes to prove that Useful Idiots can be found anywhere amongst supposedly intelligent people. How pathetic is that?
