INDIANAPOLIS -- When the Indiana Republican Party found itself in a bind this spring, unable to lock down a high-profile keynote speaker for its big annual fundraising dinner, it was Gov. Mitch Daniels himself who came up with the solution: He'd get his wife, Cheri, to do it.
It was a bold move, considering that she had never given a high-profile speech before and generally has been reluctant to step onto the political stage. At the same time, her husband has been pondering a 2012 presidential bid (pondering it for the better part of 18 months, in fact) and the potential candidate himself has hinted that Cheri's the one person who could stop him -- because she's been described as uncomfortable about the intrusion such a campaign would have on their lives.
In recent months, though, Cheri Daniels has been upping her appearances, and at the meticulously timed and well-choreographed dinner before a record audience of 1,100 on Thursday evening, she strode onto the stage in fire-engine red, hiding no more.

"We are a party of ideas, but more importantly a party that acts on ideas," he said, adding that in the Hoosier State, there were no forgotten towns or inner cities that are too bleak.
He has obviously given some thought to the area beyond Indiana's borders, too.
Daniels accepted an invitation from those 55 students to meet at a spacious bar several blocks away after the event; he sipped Woodford Reserve bourbon as he asked them about their own lives and families. In return, they asked him who he might like to tap as his vice presidential nominee if he runs.
Hypothetically, he told them, he'd like to pick Condoleeza Rice.

>> Such as, for example, the fact that her impressive national security and foreign policy credentials fill in a perceived gap in Daniels’ resume.
She was a pathetic failure as head of State. She let the careerists walk all over her. She provided zero leadership and she completely lost control of her own department.
Condi Rice is an academic — not worth a damn at actually *running* anything, however. She was an OK NSA, but VP? No way.
Examples?
RINOCONDI? lol

Yep, by Retired Greyhound.
Actually, Rumsfeld’s new book casts real doubt on her abilities at NSA. She apparently always wanted . . . wait for it . . . “consensus,” and tried to incorporate a little of everyone’s plans to please each group. Rummy, of course, wanted a raucous debate, then pick a winner.
Yep, because we should be prepared for the attacks if we are to consider nominating this guy.

Interesting. I haven’t read Rumsfeld’s book; maybe I should.
thanks and FRegards
Mitch Daniels has a problem. He wants to ignore the ‘social’ issues and focus on ‘financial’ issues. Every dime spent by the ‘government’ outside of our military is a ‘social’ contract. He is dumber than a stump if at this point in his life he does not know that it is ‘social’ spending that is destroying this nation.
Except, she is not Palin, right?
Condi Rice defends Obama Administration
Condoleezza Rice says America "will be fine" under Barack Obama
As I said to another commenter, it is better that we know about it before nominating the guy.
I personally don’t have a problem with their marriage history, but I know some holier-than-thou types will.
Compared to whom, ... Newt?
“She was a pathetic failure as head of State.”
The President wears the Head of State/Head of Goverment hat.
As Sec. of State Condi did a credible job.....not as great or as bad as some here think. Given the choice I would choose her over Hillary any day.
That all said, Condi as an elected Official/executive doesn’t light any fires in my mind. To my mind it’s a good thing her plans exclude seeking elective office.
Rice is an AA hack. Her main value is that by being around she allows foolish whites troubled by unmerited guilt to feel better about themselves. She shouldn’t have been SOS, and should never be VP. If this is true about Daniels, he shouldn’t get a second look from conservatives or libertarians.
has also taken $15,000 from the two House leaders [Rep. John Boehner and Rep. Eric Cantor], part of a more than $71,000 haul from at least 37 House Republican incumbents.
Why would he take money from those two Rinos, if he were not also a Rino? Case Closed, West is a Rino. Also he has supported some of the positions that Boehner has been for, thus he is voting in support of a Rino. Case clsoed again!
Or Trump?
The sole deciding factor is which party Daniels would run under. If her were to run as a democrat the media would be as interested in his true past as they were and are regarding barry bassturd whom they actually cover up things for!
