ATLANTA - Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has signed a bill that cracks down on illegal immigration by increasing some enforcement powers and requiring many employers to check the immigration status of new hires.
Deal on Friday signed the bill that has some similarities to a controversial bill enacted last year in Arizona.
Most parts of the Georgia law are set to enter into effect July 1. But opponents have said they plan to file lawsuits seeking to block it.

It is time for citizens to stand up against Obama. Our elected officials are not doing it, so we must!
And look for liberal outrage, and liberal calls for boycotts of Georgia.
If enough states pass similar laws, will the liberals just boycott half the country, to make their political statement?
I’m glad at least a few states are stepping up to do the job left by the feds on immigration.
California prop 187.
The people of California voted in a free election, won overwhelmingly only to have the Feds, working in concert with their state government co-conspirators, burned their ballots, and declared their free election illegal.
The destructive results and harm caused by these government actions, and government intrusion, can now be seen coast to coast in every single town in America.
Never forget CA prop 187.
That would be great! It sure would help us know the best places to live, or to visit with our tourist dollars. Go, Georgia!
Opponents have said they plan to file lawsuits seeking to block it.
Yep. I’m sure the Holder “Just Us” Dept. had a suit in preparation and will have it filed by Monday.
Imagine what California's economy would be like if 187 was enforced instead of wrongly declared unconstitutional.
Thanks for bring it up, I do that when appropriate also.
Does anyone remember what the other states are (I think there are 2) that have passed laws against illegal alien criminal insurgent colonists being treated like citizens re welfare, medical, food bank, foodstamps, education etc etc?
I think Oklahoma is one of them
I know that after taking this action, the states had an exodus of illegals back to Mexico and to other more lenient states
Their economy improved, and unemployment went down.

No way the feds and their state gov co-conspirators would allow 187. America would be a much different, lawful, better country today.
Again, the destructive results of that dictatorial government intrusion into California's free election, can be seen coast to coast, in every state and in every town, turning the tax payers into victims of government.

"But over the last two years, thanks to the outstanding work of Janet and Alan and everybody who's down here working at the border, we've answered those concerns. Under their leadership, we have strengthened border security beyond what many believed was possible."
"Then they wanted a fence. Well, the fence is -- The fence is now basically complete."
He’s just doing the job the White House won’t do.

Pretty sure Missouri is one.

I sure as hell won’t. I was the beginning of the end.

I sure as hell won’t. It was the beginning of the end.
I fear it will eventually come to that otherwise we will lose our country.
By 2012 Obama will have lawsuits against haft America over states passing their on immigration laws.Every time these same people say the same ole story, it could lead to racial profiling and could harm the states economy.
