INDIANAPOLIS -- With 1,100 people chanting "Run Mitch, Run," Gov. Mitch Daniels took the stage here Thursday night and did something he's never done before: He introduced his wife Cheri, and then he turned the microphone over to her to address the sold-out crowd.
It was Cheri Daniels' first-ever speech at a big political event in all the years she has been Indiana's First Lady. And with speculation over whether her husband will enter the presidential race now at fever-pitch, her mere presence at the podium for the annual state GOP dinner had everyone searching for clues and hidden meanings. The question was heard over and over: Did her willingness to step into the limelight after years as a reluctant First Lady mean she was on board with Daniels making a bid for the White House?
Daniels, who asked his wife to give the speech, didn't rule it out.
"This whole business of running for national office--I'm not saying I won't do it," he said, triggering loud applause.
Daniels, who was President Bush's budget director and has earned a reputation in Indiana for fiscal discipline, said afterward that a decision will come within weeks--and that it remains the subject of ongoing talks between his wife and their four daughters.
"It's closer to a decision. We owe the people and answer. If we're going to do it, we have to get on the road to do it," Daniels told reporters who crowded around him after the event.
Will Mitch Daniels lead the GOP in 2012?
Reflecting what many observers see as weak Republican field, the pressure on Daniels to run has been intense. He has been assured backing from big-money donors who supported George W. Bush, in addition to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, as well as top sitting Republican governors.

Sources tell CBS News popular New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has told Daniels he would back him, as would Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
Im sorry Daniel fans but YUCK. I know this is vain but he does not “look” Presidential to me.. shoulders shrugged
Daniels is the Establishment’s choice. I have known that for more than 6 months based on discussions with my Rep Congressman. The Establishment gave us McCain and Dole. This time we need to select our own candidate.
Well with three RINO’s suporting him what’s not to like. I guess this also means Ann (the AFTERbirther) Coulture will aupport him also.
FWIW Walker is denying this. I guess we’ll see.
Daniels may be okay for IN, but he’s not okay for US. But, this is another case of the elite trying to ram the candidate selection process and who our candidate will be down our collective throats.
God bless him for taking his wife back, but why is it that Elizabeth Edwards and Hillary are considered saints because they put up with flakey husbands - but if it’s a guy who supports the marriage, they think he has a screw loose?

Just remember this passage from the prophet Isaiah Chapter 53 regarding the Messiah:
“He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.”
Not making a comparison, but we should not be judging a book by its cover ( America already did that we Obama ).
Holy cow, a TRIPLE post!

Why not? Please be specific.
He was Bush’s OMB director, He said he couldn’t debate Obama on Foreign Policy and has called for a truce on social issue and a vat tax. Next??
Daniels is a RINO scumbag POS liberal socialist, how’s that for ‘splaining it to you.
They are going to try to jam ole Mitch down our throats. We need to make sure that does not happen.
He could never be worse than the S.o.b. in office now.
Was he born in this country?
After your statement makes me wonder what the man does talk about. (I don’t know anything about him except what the rabid supporters of him calling Limbaugh’s show and the non supporters on FR say.)
