This is as bad as when Krispee Kreme donuts came to Austin. I have yet to stop and buy a single KK doorknob, and we pass by it every morning.
They are open Sundays.
MADD and the Tobacco Nazis killed them off.
Pretty much the same thing happened when the first Sonic opened in the Naperville/Aurora, IL area a few years ago. Apparently the first store to open had an EIGHT HOUR wait that first day, and long delays for quite awhile after.
Maybe that’s it. Their fries are fresh cut. They’ve always got one person doing nothing but putting potatoes into a slicer and pulling down on a big arm that cuts them in one stroke. From there they go straight into the fryer.
If it were up to me I’d probably turn up the oil temp just a tiny bit, and cook them a little bit longer. I like a nice crispy freedom fry. Not quite crunchy, but darned near.
OK that’s just creepy. Made creepier by the fact that they just aren’t that good.
lol
As soon as I saw the thread, I knew you would post on it! I liked In-N-Out Burgers. My fav fast food I miss is fried zucchinis, though. And, those were at hole-in-the-wall places. I will give Culvers some credit for decent burgers, though.
People get crazy about burgers/comfort food.
Fresh cut fries need to be double fried to perfection.
All that talk last night has made me so hungry that In-N-Out will be my dinner tonight...:oP
Yes many times..:oP It is one of the better ones...:oP For some reason I never made it to Pt. Mugu ...one of the few I haven't been to at least once...
You got that right! Trivia: My dad was offered a chance to rebuild Rare Bear by fellow airline pilot Lyle Shelton in the very beginning. He pulled a trailer up to my dad's business to give him a look. But he declined as he was too busy at the time. He said it was one of his biggest mistakes!...:oP
I can't get my mouth around that one!...:oP
I'm in about the same situation and all this talk last night made me vow to stop on the way home tonight for my usual..a 3X3/grilled onions with animal fries...an xtra large 7-Up and chocolate shake!...:oP
That is so cool. Too bad your dad passed on that opportunity. I have a pic somewhere of me sitting in Rare Bear’s cockpit. A “reward” for a $1000 donation to it’s Fan Sponsorship a few years back. One of my heros passed with Lyle Shelton.
I’ll be in Reno (Box A-81), are you going?
Yeah Lyle had just bought the project and my dad was rebuilding airplanes and flying right seat 727's for TWA at the time...of course he had no idea what was going to happen with that Bearcat at the time..:oP
Reno now conflicts with our Cessna 195 convention so doubt I will make it...the last time I was supposed to be in Reno for the races was on 9-11. It was the following weekend..had a plane ticket and condo rented in Tahoe...they closed down all the airspace and my flight was cancelled...:o(
Funny thing about 9/11 weekend (if you can find anything “funny” about it)
I flew down from Alaska and I had 9 of my friends all driving into Reno to share my Box Seats. Well, I had left the tix in my room in Alaska! If it wasn’t for the fact that they canceled the races I would have had to reimberse everybody. It worked out as Reno Air Races gave us free entry for 2002.
We played a lot of golf Tuesday through Saturday that year
C-195 : One of my favorite “old” planes. We had a few based in Fairbanks that used to fly into Galena when I was working up there.
