If you know anyone from Southern California, you've probably heard them wax poetic about In-N-Out Burger.
The legendary family-run chain is now winning over legions of new fans, but farther east than ever before as two new restaurants open in the north Texas towns of Frisco and Allen.
Cars lined up as far as two miles for the drive-thrus, and fans spent the night in the parking lot, for the chance to get a bite of the first In-N-Out burgers east of Arizona.
Danielle DeInnocentes of The Colony, Texas, broke into tears after she bit into a Double-Double, a famous In-N-Out sandwich made from two meat patties and two slices of cheese.
Ms DeInnocentes is originally from Rialto, California, and in a video posted online, she says she is ecstatic that In-N-Out opened a restaurant two miles from her house.
She told restaurant staff: 'You're going to see my every day'.
Ms DeInnocentes called the Double-Double 'the best hamburger in the world', and said, 'Pinch me, it doesn't feel real!'

Can’t count the times I grabbed an In-N-Out and parked to eat it at the northeast end of Cable airport off Benson!..:oP

Burgers are great. Shakes are awesome. You'll want two. I believe you can order them separately but they have something called Frings ( fries plus onion rings ) which are great. You can even buy the batter to take home.
I also wasn't impressed by INO. Tried several locations in the Cali high desert and the Southland but still never got the appeal
Glad to hear it! If everybody liked it you'd never get one!!..:oP
This was the last place they shut down out here. It wasnt great but it was an institution and I would go ther for a burger and a cold chocolate malt after wresting the yard on a hot summer day......
It has served generations of cruising Greenville teenagers, fed hungry families after church and after the movies and has played host to countless political debates conducted by the regular coffee drinkers inside its cushioned booths.
But the days of the iconic Royal Drive-In on Wesley Street appear to be numbered.
Manager Tracy Hooker said the restaurant is scheduled to be closed later this year, although it is to be replaced with another staple of small towns in the Lone Star State.
Were going to make it into a Dairy Queen, Hooker said.
He said there has been a Royal Drive-In in Greenville since 1946, mostly recently as part of the Herschels restaurant chain.
The current Royal at 6308 Wesley Street, was once a Dairy Queen and was in the exact spot where the new restaurant will be built; namely, next door at 6309 Wesley Street, which is now the Royals parking lot. But that restaurants foundation had a host of problems, Hooker said, forcing the construction of a Dairy Queen where the Royal is now.
That Dairy Queen one of a few which have been located in Greenville over the years in various places operated for about seven years, Hooker said, until it became the Royal in the mid-1970s.
The owners of the Royal also own the Dairy Queen in McKinney and, in looking to expand, inquired as to who may have had the franchise rights to the name in Greenville. Hooker said the rights were available, so it made sense to locate the new restaurant where the old one had once been.
Weve owned the property for quite a while, Hooker said.
Workers have already completed the surveying for the restaurant and the next step will be tearing up the parking lot in order to lay the new foundation.
Hopefully that will happen by the end of this month or the beginning of next month, Hooker said, adding the current building has outlived its usefulness.
The maintenance costs are starting to kill us, Hooker said, adding he does not know whether the new restaurant will incorporate Royal as part of its name.
He expects to make the transition and remain as manager of the new Dairy Queen, which he said will be a little different than the restaurants which used to call Greenville home.
It is one of their newer concepts, called a DQ Grill & Chill, Hooker said, adding the outlets tend to be a little smaller inside than the traditional Dairy Queens.
While there will be fewer of the booths available for the hosting of political debates, Hooker said the restaurant will have a drive-through and outside seating.
The DQ is sucking major ass 6 months later and the Royal is Gone
dats what I am talking about!
Yep, same spot. I’m usually with the del taco lunch though.
Just to be clear, that previous post was about changes at Carl’s Jr.
In-N-Out treats its employees well and pays them well. Rich Snyder used to be the head of the company. He was active in conservative politics, a big donor to the Hershchensohn Senate campaign back in the ‘80s. Unfortunately Rich was killed in a plane crash in 1993.
Me too sometimes...there's that Del Taco on corner by the car wash ...Benson and Foothill...
Didn't know that about Rich Snyder...as far as employees I'm not surprised...like I said they are always happy there...you can count on it like clockwork....
Animal Style.
Yeah, small world Huh fellow FReeper?
Nice to know ya’
Rich thought of his job as the point at the bottom of an inverted triangle. He was there to support everyone in the company. When talking to store managers, he was always careful to refer to the shops as "your stores," hoping this would help instill a sense of ownership.
At one point when Rich was planning the expansion drive, he sought the advice of a food industry consultant. The expert told Rich that if he slashed salaries, In-N-Out could save a "ton of money." This infuriated Rich. Recounting the story, he said it was exactly the kind of advice one would expect "from a guy who wears a suit and who thinks you don't pay a guy who cooks hamburgers that much money."
From its start, In-N-Out paid employees more than the going rate. (Associates always made at least $2 to $3 above minimum wage.) As of February 2008, In-N-Out was paying new part-time associates $10 an hourjust 51 cents less than full-time workers at Wal-Mart (WMT), whose $375 billion in annual sales is about 1,000 times greater than In-N-Out's. Store managers at In-N-Out make at least $100,000 a year and are eligible for monthly bonuses tied to store sales.
Rich also established an expansive set of benefits, including 401(k) plans, paid vacation for part-timers, and health, dental, and vision plans for full-time workers. Each year, he put on companywide picnics and a gala dinner. Managers who met their goals were sent on trips with their spouses, often to Europe in first-class seats. For a Christmas outing to a performance of The Nutcracker, Rich insisted that his managers wear tuxedos. He thought they stood shoulder to shoulder with any blue-chip manager and wanted them to feel that way, too.
So, if we sawed California off and let it float 'round the Horn to Argentina, I suppose that wouldn't be so good for server latency would it?
On the other hand, the server could move to Dallas. Now, there's an idea! Tectonic saws or not.
We did a Five Guys vs. In-N-Out thread a few weeks ago. IN-N-Out won the day IMHO.

Yeah you are the closest I've met here...good to meet you too!...
This is my friend on my Harley at Cable Air Fair last year...ever been?
DQ sure are hell doesn’t have gals that been cooking all their life, frying me eggs in BUTTER over easy at 5:30 AM with bacon, toast and coffee for $3.50.
Things just aren’t the same anymore.
Then at night the hotrod car collectors used to hang out in the parking lots.
that was neat about the Royal drive inn. you order and then drive off to a designated area in the lot and a gal runs the fresh cooked stuff out to your car in about 10 mins and you start a party in the lot with the other folks showing off their cars.
Sigh... another bit of America gone
And DQ dont have steak sangwighes.
I forgot to add that that Florida based chain occasionally does product placement on “CSI Miami.” I try to tell everybody in the Charleston area to stop at the one in Bluffton SC if they’re heading south. It’s the only location in SC, NC. and GA. I figure it’s because it’s somewhat off I-95 but just outside of Hilton Head.

They're In-N-Out in about 8 hours, LOL.
