Tears and a two-mile-long line mark opening of the first In-N-Out Burger joints in Texas

If you know anyone from Southern California, you've probably heard them wax poetic about In-N-Out Burger.

The legendary family-run chain is now winning over legions of new fans, but farther east than ever before as two new restaurants open in the north Texas towns of Frisco and Allen.

Cars lined up as far as two miles for the drive-thrus, and fans spent the night in the parking lot, for the chance to get a bite of the first In-N-Out burgers east of Arizona.

Danielle DeInnocentes of The Colony, Texas, broke into tears after she bit into a Double-Double, a famous In-N-Out sandwich made from two meat patties and two slices of cheese.

Ms DeInnocentes is originally from Rialto, California, and in a video posted online, she says she is ecstatic that In-N-Out opened a restaurant two miles from her house.

She told restaurant staff: 'You're going to see my every day'.

Ms DeInnocentes called the Double-Double 'the best hamburger in the world', and said, 'Pinch me, it doesn't feel real!'

" People should realize that they can make just as good a burger on a Weber Kettle at home. "

And actually cheaper, with fresh ground beef, cheese, kaiser rolls, and yes, have to have the red onion.

I adore them, they never sucked.

I came to Tx and all there is is FF

Oh, I have found the better side of Tx and like the place, but the FF culture here is a stain. IMHO

I'll try the place - after it calms down a bit.

It might be a while.

When I go to Spring training, I occasionally visit the In 'n' Out on Bell Rd in Peoria, AZ.

It's been there for years. But there is always an extended line...and a long wait. Best to park, go inside and order. There's still a line...but they'll get to you in good time.

“They took them off the menu ages ago (sigh).”

As I understand it you can thank the money grubber crowd for that loss. Some time after Carl’s went public the Karcher family lost control of the company that they had created. The new regime was only concerned with money, and any item that didn’t have a high enough return to suit them got eliminated.

When the family ran the firm they generously rewarded their long time employees, whether they were cooks or truck drivers, not just the managers. The new regime rewarded those loyal employees by letting them go.

C’mon this is a meat mecca the state of Tx. Whats the big deal for an over glorified burger from the west coast.Certainly cant go wrong by expanding to Tx however. Smart business move.

It is more of a connection to memories than anything else.

I know what it is like to not be able to find some of the food of my childhood. If someone brought me guava shortcake I might become emotional.

We have ONE Burger joint left in this town, a Cafe called Terry’s.

They serve the 1/2 pounder called the Bubba Burger.

Comes in the brown paper sack with the grease stains that indicate freshness.

Other than that it’s all FF

I park at Cable airport and eat lunch quite often where you can watch the small planes come and go.

Dateline Frisco, TX : 11:00 PM THURSDAY, 1 day AFTER the big opening, they STILL had a 1.5 hour wait at both the drive thru and the counter.

God Bless Texas. But it might be faster to fly to LA to get your burger.

Yeah I heard. I think it was supposed to be near Firewheel. Maybe they didn’t want to compete with Scotty P’s. We’ll have to go give ‘em a try, tho.
