If you know anyone from Southern California, you've probably heard them wax poetic about In-N-Out Burger.
The legendary family-run chain is now winning over legions of new fans, but farther east than ever before as two new restaurants open in the north Texas towns of Frisco and Allen.
Cars lined up as far as two miles for the drive-thrus, and fans spent the night in the parking lot, for the chance to get a bite of the first In-N-Out burgers east of Arizona.
Danielle DeInnocentes of The Colony, Texas, broke into tears after she bit into a Double-Double, a famous In-N-Out sandwich made from two meat patties and two slices of cheese.
Ms DeInnocentes is originally from Rialto, California, and in a video posted online, she says she is ecstatic that In-N-Out opened a restaurant two miles from her house.
She told restaurant staff: 'You're going to see my every day'.
Ms DeInnocentes called the Double-Double 'the best hamburger in the world', and said, 'Pinch me, it doesn't feel real!'

I don't think In and Out can beat that
I think she just missed a decent ff burger. But the lines are so
long, I think it is faster to cook a burger yourself.
You could probably buy the ingredients once for about 6 burgers,
and cook one faster than it takes to wait in line.
Decent burgers however, so that’s not too bad.
Gotta admit, as far as fast food big chains go, the
Carls Teriyaki burger ain’t bad at all.
However, ain’t nuttin’ that I know that is as good
as a Tommy’s (rampart and beverly in L.A.) total grease,
fat, and flavor...plus you get the burger in about 10-20 seconds
after you order it.....bring the napkins and the soap after
you’re done...
My supply guy in the 80’s had that.
PS-I LOVE the In-N-out burger. My son used to have 2 double-doubles after his Friday night lights football games. I miss those times.
The worst of them beats a FF joint IMHO
you can also ask for and get an Arnold Palmer -1/2 ice tea-1/2 lemonade.
5 Guys is better.
For a burger chain, I think it’s the best. I haven’t tried a 5 guys (?) yet. Want to, but don’t think for a minute that it will cause me to abandon INNO.
There are specialty joints out there that have absolutely outstanding burgers, but I can’t get back to TX once a week for Kinkade’s or to the east coast for some of the mom and pop burger joints that have great burgers.
I also get a bit envious when I watch DDD and see some of the local burger joints Guy visits. Many of the burgers I’ve seen on his show have actually made my mouth water.
It’s a personal thing, I get that.
Yup, 19 cent tacos and hotdogs late 1960’s...so based on inflation,
they would be about 1.20 each now....so actually Taco Bell,
and Del Taco here are cheaper taco-wise...I would like a 1.19
hotdog though....
No, no, they don’t.
A couple of really bad ones still exist. Heitmieller’s Steakhouse in Elm Mott, TX is just such a tavern.
They use only electric grills.
Your food comes out in aluminum foil.
Your food tastes like shoe leather and alum.
Service is really, really, really slow.
Wait staff is ugly, rude, both or sometimes worse.
And they charge more for a terrible burger than I can get a prime steak for in Dallas.
The sooner such awfulness goes away the better.
watch what they do to the fries after they take them out of the fry basket...
For some reason. I find the name “In n Out a little off putting....
In my world, it is a type of enema. Ranks right up there with H H H which is legit for high, hot, and a hell of alot.
'bout as good as you can do and not make it yourself..:oP
Carl's Jr used to serve a sandwich called the California roast beef with a nice Ortega chili on it. I liked them a lot and I ate a million of them. They took them off the menu ages ago (sigh).
You’ve never had a burger cooked on a grill that has been seasoned for 46 years.
But if FF is your thing, have at it.
Actually, I have. But it wasn’t in a tavern. Actually, it was in a rather retro little diner in the middle of nowhere Missouri.
Keller’s is by definition not a tavern.
They are good, but they’re technically also fast food. Lord knows I’ve been there often enough.
Gotta agree - and add Smashburger (on Beltline in Addison) to the list. It might not match In & Out for sheer size of the burgers, but still puts all the "big name" chains to shame.
I happened to be in the parking lot behind the Frisco In & Out earlier this evening - their drive-through line was serpentined all through the parking lot. I overheard one of their employees saying that the walk-up wait was an hour and a half, drive-up wait was two hours. I'll try the place - after it calms down a bit.
I’m in Florida, I probably won’t live to see one here.
