According to televised reports from Fox News, a man with an AK-47 attempted to storm the entrance gate to Fort Leonard Wood, two hours from St. Louis Missouri, police and guardsmen responded and chased the suspect who is in custody.
Missouri police identified the gunman as Cody Wilcoxson. According to a spokesman from the military base, where a large number of new recruits complete their Basic Combat Training, Wilcoxson attempted to gain entry to the base earlier this morning at the West Gate and handed over a form of identification, which the guard declined for security purposes. When prompted for another form of ID Wilcoxson apparently drove through the gate, where Military Police chased him until he drove back through a separate gate and regular police took up the chase. According to the breaking news report from Fox News, Wilcoxson was shooting through the driver side window and the sunroof of his vehicle, and headed towards the Missouri University of Science and Technology, which has been locked down since the occurrence. Reports from around 9AM this morning from theschool said that a gunman was seen on campus entering buildings, and then left approximately 15 minutes.
Officers laid down stop sticks and disabled the gunman’s vehicle, which he abandoned and then stole another car, which he also crashed. He is reportedly in custody of the Missouri State Police at this time, and could have been injured on his hand. No motive for the event has been reported as of the time of this writing.
The Base Commander and the Security Officer both need to be relieved of duty immediately. The Security Officer should face court martial for dereliction of duty.
There should be no way, I means absolutely NO WAY that ANYONE makes it into a U.S. military base that easily.

We had to present our ID outside their usual ‘homes’ in our wallets this week. Guards are doubled at the front gate, but not the back, but they only have handguns. Navy Base...loose lips rule.

Let’s see, no one was injured, the perp is in custody. This is a news article which are notorious for being inaccurate, yet you want people fired. You seem to think bases are fortresses, they are not. I can get on almost any base in this country with a 4 X 4 and a set of bolt cutters.

The guards used to just wave us through at Wright Patterson AFB back in the 80s. During the day they were rent-a-cops but they looked a bit more serious after dark.

This creature had an AK-47. If he had been Achmed the Awful on a Jihadi mission it could have been another massacre. Anyone who runs the gate at a military base needs to be stopped HARD.

I tried to follow my retarded stepson onto Buckley AFB one night several years ago when he was still a Marine. The guys with the M-16s ran us down and pulled their vehicle in front of us to make sure we didn’t get more than 100 feet inside the gate.
I got no problem with that, and I’ll never listen to somebody who tells me to blow off the guards and follow him again.
