Ron Paul wouldn't have approved Osama bin Laden operation
By: Juana Summers May 12, 2011 07:27 AM EDT
Ron Paul says he would not have authorized the mission that led to the death of Osama bin Laden, and that President Barack Obama should have worked with the Pakistani government instead of authorizing a raid.
"I think things could have been done somewhat differently," Paul said this week. "I would suggest the way they got Khalid [Sheikh] Mohammed. We went and cooperated with Pakistan. They arrested him, actually, and turned him over to us, and he's been in prison. Why can't we work with the government?"
Asked by WHO Radio's Simon Conway whether he would have given the go-ahead to kill bin Laden if it meant entering another country, Paul shot back that it "absolutely was not necessary."
"I don't think it was necessary, no. It absolutely was not necessary," Paul said during his Tuesday comments.

His spew is the main reason I don't like him....at all.
That was done 10 years ago, you moron!
Osama bin Laden mission agreed in secret 10 years ago by US and Pakistan
The deal was struck between the military leader General Pervez Musharraf and President George Bush after Bin Laden escaped US forces in the mountains of Tora Bora in late 2001, according to serving and retired Pakistani and US officials. Under its terms, Pakistan would allow US forces to conduct a unilateral raid inside Pakistan in search of Bin Laden, his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and the al-Qaida No3. Afterwards, both sides agreed, Pakistan would vociferously protest the incursion. US forces were given permission to conduct unilateral raid inside Pakistan if they knew where Bin Laden was hiding...
I know Democrats would and do toe the party line but I am really wondering about the Republicans.
Now that's a double face palmer with a half twist.
Good grief, when I’m siding with Obama over a purported Republican, something is definitely wrong with the Pubbie.
There is a libertarian streak in most of us Cons, but where we part ways with the true “believers” is on National Defense and Security.
And if someone says “the Founding Fathers would not have done this”, I would have replied “How did Thomas Jefferson deal with the Barbary pirates?”.
Ron Paul won’t ever be President. So what?
It would destroy the Republican party, which is why it won't ever happen.
Ron Paul is a libertarian, not a conservative - and as such he will never be the GOP presidential nominee.
Paul wouldn't have approved the Bin Laden operation. This is precisely the sort of crackpot view that will keep him relegated to "crazy uncle" status for the vast majority of Republicans.
It's pretty simple. If your running for the Republican party nomination for President and your constituency is mushhead college students, pot heads, peaceniks and truthers, you have zero chance to win.
That’s why Ron Paul will never win the White House. Duh.
Speaking for myself personally I’m done with the “a vote against the R is a vote for Obama.”
Its either a R candidate that reflects real conservative ideals or a third party candidate that does.
I’m sick of voting for who is trying to shove a sh!t sandwich down my throat slower.
Ron Paul is and will only become more of a nut.
“I think things could have been done somewhat differently,” Paul said this week. “I would suggest the way they got Khalid [Sheikh] Mohammed. We went and cooperated with Pakistan. They arrested him, actually, and turned him over to us, and he’s been in prison. Why can’t we work with the government?”
I don’t agree with Paul on this per se but he is correct that the takedown of KSM was a joint op and this is not a daffy argument he is making. It might be that things have changed since Musharaff left office, or there was evidence the Pakis were actually holding UBL under a house arrest of some sort, or some other wild card fact that dictated the raid be unilateral.
None of us knows everything that went on (except those few who do). But I’d give Paul some lattitude on this comment. It’s a reasonable assetion given what we DO know.
Maybe Dr. Paul thinks the Barbary Pirates war was an evil, undeclared war hatched by Thomas Jefferson and those evil, Joo Neo Cons around him /sarc
Paul would have pulled the trigger just like Obama did. The military and intel parts of the gov’t had been putting this puzzle together for a long long time. You can’t find the guy and then just stop. “The Machine” doesn’t just take no for an answer. The hard part is having to watch 0 take the credit.
A foregone conclusion.
Libertarian kook alert!
And I don’t approve of Ron Paul. So there.
Because Pakistan is harboring and deploying terrorists as a tool of foreign policy.
I would have been nice to see bin Laden alive and humiliated but with this administration we’d have Holder, BO, and Twisted Sister fall all over themselves trying to get that demon to the states for a “fair trial” and in the meantime make Gitmo look like the Mayberry jail! No thanks.....:(....and yes, Ron Paul is a wingnut...:)
And he wants to lead it.
Pfffft!!
Nicely done, Just a Nobody! NICELY done! :)
