Possible Naval AEW&C Bird for China

Heres what might be further evidence of Chinas quickly evolving efforts to field an aircraft carrier with a full on and modern air wing; grainy pictures of whats possibly a Chinese E-2 Hawkeye style airborne early warning bird.
Maybe they wont be able to operate off Chinas Shi Lang carrier, which uses a ski-ramp rather than catapults to launch jets but it could still support and protect the carrier and its battle group in the same way as the U.S. E-2s currently do.
Its one more sign that China is getting serious about fielding a real carrier strike group in the near future not just testing out how to fly a few fighters off a flat top.

The empennage does look very similar to that of an E-2.
It’s the spittin’ image.
I wonder if they got any ideas from the U.S. recon plane they forced down at Hainan Island and took apart?
That was a P3 not an E2.... but then again the P3 or E2 airframes are nothing special... both are simple straight wing turboprops... its the radar and eletronics that are the "secret stuff"
The Chinese are at least 2 decades from being able to challenge the US military, ASSUMING we stand still.
The only time you'll folks in the defense profession talking about Chinese weapons is when they're looking for more money for their own.
Even the Russians are far, far ahead of the Chinese and we hear very little of them.
2 decades ago, America had an industrial base.
Now China has it.
That’s easy, just insert unions, feminism, and minority studies into China!
there, fixed :)
Yeah, except this problem really isn’t very funny.
The longer we scoff, argue with each other and do anything (except) come to terms with the problem and do something.
The more horrible that day will become.
This has long ago passed the point of no return.
There are now only two ways out:
A trade war.
Or a real one.
Eventually, the trade war option will be off the table. We probably should not stall and avoid this, until that time.
That would be bad.
I suspect that the follow-on carriers to the Shi Lang will have at least one catapult on the angle deck, specifically to launch AEW&C birds and tankers.
One of the major limiting factors for the SU-33, which everyone assumes will be their primary strike-fighter aircraft, is low take-off weight necessitated by the ski-jump launch. Getting more gas in the air will go a long way to alleviate that.

Muhammad Ali duel it out with Sony Liston (Or was it Frazer?). He won the fight but got his nose bloodied in the processes. Half a century later, he was diagnosed [with AZT I think] which was likely as a results of the many punches he himself had endure during his career. What was sold here only not too ago? “Superfusion” wasn’t it? Or, would you guys rather risk that single bullet in the revolver Russian game of roulette for your prides and your egos?
Another copy from the land of knockoffs.

Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation.
This is a medium to low volume pinglist.
Just an eyeball estimate makes me wonder what pitch control is like on that bird.
Especially during landings in light turbulence.
That dish looks about right to completely kill airflow over the horizontal stab.
