Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Wednesday he does not believe Congress will act before the May 20 deadline to authorize military engagement in Libya and he does not recognize the constitutionality of the War Powers Act that sets the timeline, in any case.
No president has ever recognized the constitutionality of the War Powers Act and neither do I, McCain said. So I dont feel bound by any deadline. Its pretty obvious theres no consensus in the Senate or in the Congress now to move forward with a resolution. I respect that.
McCain, the top Republican on the Armed Services Committee, had been working with a bipartisan group of lawmakers to try to find consensus language for a symbolic sense of the Senate resolution expressing support for President Barack Obamas decision in March to engage militarily in Libya.

One thing about McCain,he never fails to disappoint.
McCain was brainwashed by Commies,He can’t be trusted ever!
I thought Bush abided by the War Power Act?
Every time Obama farts, McCain wants to pass a resolution on how good it smells.
McCain is the biggest suck-up in Congress.
Isn’t it about time that McCain wandered off never to be seen or heard of again!
I wouldn’t be surprised if McLame didn’t jump into the primaries just to further muddy the waters. He can’t be out done by Newt the Keebler Elf.
Why have a War Powers Act..Why have a Constitution..Hey Mc Cain, why have a Senate?...Reminds me of Twilight Zone episode “THE OBSOLETE MAN”...
Hopefully he wont get it.
Let the old fart go over there and sign up . Leave the rest of us out of this European oil heist . If the geezers had their way every young American male would be in a war somewhere . These fossils think the only way they can continue to run there Con is to kill off the young and strong ,that is if they make it by PPH.
Actually, Obama does. He cites it here.
I am providing this report as part of my efforts to keep the Congress fully informed, consistent with the War Powers Resolution. I appreciate the support of the Congress in this action.
Where is J.D. Hayworth when we REALLY need him?
Hey Juan!
I hear that there is a huge stash of gold in the desert east of Phoenix. Why don’t you spend the rest of your pitiful existence trying to find it. Watch out for your messican bros while yer out there buddy.
Thanks for your service to our country so many years ago but you’re obviously too far gone to matter anymore.
My point exactly..read my post #11
I don’t think John McCain has ever been on the right side of anything——and stayed there.
Senator, isn't it obvious that, if American troops are committed to combat, there should be at least a "consenus" in the Senate to move forward?!
The Senator from Oz; he has no heart, no brain and no courage.
I don't agree with the new war in Libya at all, but there's no question as to its "legality."
