The Senates top Democrat on Wednesday harshly condemned what he said were inappropriate attempts by Republican lawmakers to intervene in a controversial labor dispute now before the National Labor Relations Board.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, said the GOP moves were an attempt to poison the decision-making process in the increasingly bitter dispute over plans by aerospace giant Boeing Co. to open a major new, nonunion manufacturing plant for its premier 787 Dreamliner fleet in South Carolina.
The NLRB, in a move that has outraged leading business groups and South Carolina officials, has issued a complaint about the move, charging the new plant was an illegal effort to punish Boeings unionized workers for a series of past strikes.
Mr. Reid said he was not judging the merits of the dispute, but he said the political pressure on the independent NLRB went beyond the pale.
This kind of interference is inappropriate, Mr. Reid said in a statement. It is disgraceful and dangerous. We wouldnt allow threats to prosecutors or U.S. Attorneys, trying to stop them from moving forward with charges they see fit to bring to the courts. And we shouldnt stand for this. It may not be illegal, but its no better than the retaliation and intimidation that is the fundamental question in this case. It should stop.
Boeing now has a plant in Puget Sound, Wash., that manufactures seven airplanes a month. The company is spending $2 billion on a new plant in North Charleston, S.C., to manufacture three more per month. The company says it will not cut jobs or production in Washington state; in fact, it has added more than 2,000 positions since it announced plans to build the new facility in 2009.

As much as Obama and the Republican "leadership" want to give it.
It won’t get to the courts..the H is now looking for a way to get out of this mess...remember, the NLRB guy got a recess appt, and the GOP stopped him in the Senate

Why should the federal courts have any decision making in whether or not a company builds a plant in a state?
So what does Reid call it now that he is sticking his nose into it.
Harry needs a few more of these!
Actually, I don’t know all the stuff going on behind the scenes, but I get the feeling that Boeing has lost out to Airbus a couple of times because southern politicians have gotten sick of all the business going to Seattle, and the French have offered to do some of the manunfacturing down there.
If Boeing plants a foot in South Carolina, that will not only get them a non-union labor force, but it will please a lot of the politicians in that part of the country. Boeing needs to get their act together, or they will go the way of General Motors, and I don’t know who will take their place. Lockheed can’t do it all.
This case is scheduled to be heard in June in Seattle by a NLRB law judge. It’s my understanding if s/he finds against Boeing it will be appealed in the federal courts.
How dare elected representatives of the people interfere with the dictates of unelected bureaucrats! It’s in-American, I tell you!
That looks like it BELONGS there, LOL.
After Boeing bought the Vought aircraft plant in SC they had a vote by the workers and they voted the union out.
I recall when Dingy was the Majority Whip, watching him on C-Span as he was speaking on the Senate floor and thinking, “Surely the dims have better sense than to let this clown become Majority Leader when Daschle gets defeated.” Boy, was I ever wrong.
Here’s my youtube on how Reid took money from Pimp Joe Conforte:

If a store is charging higher prices, I am not “punishing” that store by seeking out lower prices for additional purchases - especially if I am STILL SHOPPING THE SAME AMOUNT (actually more) AT THE HIGH PRICED STORE!
You are correct..that’s the designated path..but I suspect that Obama would like a way out before the hearing..
It’s always instructive to see the Marxist Reid sticking up for an unelected fascist bureaucracy. All federal agencies not involved in national security need to be ripped out by the roots and burned, and some of these agency poobahs need to be indicted for sedition.
