A New Hope math teacher pleaded not guilty to the sexual battery of a 17-year-old student Tuesday after she was indicted by a grand jury.
Katherine Robbins, of 4097 New Hope Road in Lowndes County, had been on administrative leave since allegations surfaced in March.
Robbins, who is married with two young children, is accused of having a sexual relationship with the male student over an extended period of time, according to sources at the school.
According to one of her students, Robbins often flirted with male classmates, even to the point of giving them hugs and inappropriately touching them in other ways.
Now that Robbins has been indicted, Lowndes County School District Superintendent Mike Halford said it was "pretty much a given" that she would be fired.
The case, which is still under a gag order by 16th District Circuit Judge Jim Kitchens, is scheduled for trial Aug. 22.
When I was in school(in the last Millenia/Century) ALL of the Teachers in my small town in C. Iowa(Ogden) were over 60. The Male School population looked forward to the March/April timeframe when we would get the lastest crop of Student Teachers from Iowa State University :-)!
These threads are an interesting measure of the level morals have fallen to, teachers included.
Amen.
In high school I had TWO female teachers that had taught my mother, and were not young then.
Because it was a very small school, the male teachers were mostly young guys just starting, who moved to bigger, better paying schools after getting some experience.
Naturally, the girls had NO problem with that.
I've the very same question: all I ever had all the way through high school was Sister Mary Killakid, Sister Mary Elephant, and Sister Mary Hitler (mustache included).
Kids today have it sooooo easy! Of course, other than sexual matters from caring teachers, they ain't learnin' squat!
Ah....leftist public education. What would we do without it?
You're not alone in remembering them as being mostly older women.
I'm guessing that back then teaching was something educated women did after their kids were grown, as a way to bring in extra money in their retirement years.
I remember when my first-grade teacher turned 21 (this was circa 1960). She exclaimed, “I’m not a kid anymore!”
Of course, to us first-graders she sure was old.
Not a lot of information in that article. What exactly happened and were there witnesses or just the guy’s word?
Before you all jump to conclusions, there have been many kids who have lied about teachers. These teachers have had their lives and their families’ lives ruined forever. In fact, I knew one teacher who was so worn down and saw no end to the case they committed suicide. Before anyone screams out that suicide means he did the deed, stop, because you do NOT know the details. Again, kids lie. Cops lie. And grand juries only know what crooked LE tells them and they are not there to convict anyone.
She looks like Jennifer Coolidge.
¡ oh heck yeah !
Not guilty. Not a doubt.
I went thru first grade well before 1960....my first grade teacher controlled a classroom of 83 students...with no problems at all.
"Her" name was Sister Mary Smashemflat; she was of indeterminant age, had a wicked left, a crushing right, a double edged cross on her rosary beads, and was from the Order of the Bleeding Nose. In short...she was a beast!
But she sure as hell could teach!
Maybe just the lynching but y’all can still have fun with the “omg what a hottie” posts.
Oh yeah...me and Laz would double team this “hittable” hottie ;)
Beautiful woman for 45.
not guilty. My old typing class teacher in the 60’s was always hitting on all the boys. She was young but not attractive so it never got her in trouble. Any of the guys that could do 30 WPM got an A; girls had to do 80, and it being the ‘60’s nobody ever complained about that little discrepancy.
Legal question, if anyone knows..What’s the Ohio statute on age of consent. Is she accused of “sexual battery” because of the student-teacher issue.
Oh, she’s guilty. And her punishment is to have to do time with me.
When I was in school, all I ever got to bang were the erasers.
Dang!
