The next generation stealth fighter under development by the Chinese military could rival America's best fighters in speed, stealth and lethality, according to a new private report.
Details on the Chinese J-20 fighter are scant as the project has been developed under extreme secrecy, but an analysis conducted by the conservative Washington D.C.-based defense policy think tank The Jamestown Foundation based on the little publicly available information concluded that the fighter "will be a high performance stealth aircraft, arguably capable of competing in most cardinal performance parameters... with the United States F-22A Raptor, and superior in most if not all cardinal performance parameters against the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter."
The F-22 Raptor, which cost the U.S. government $77 billion for 187 planes from defense contracting giant Lockheed Martin, has never seen combat in any of America's three simultaneous major combat operations, but is considered by the Air Force and Lockheed Martin to be a stealth fighter without match. The slightly cheaper F-35, an all purpose stealth fighter being developed by Lockheed Martin for the Air Force, Navy and Marines, is not meant to focus on air-to-air combat like the F-22, but on air-to-ground attacks and is expected to work in tandem with the F-22.
The Jamestown Foundation report, written by defense analyst and F-22 proponent Carlo Kopp, was first published last week just days after America's entire fleet of F-22s was grounded due to oxygen system concerns and a new video surfaced online, purportedly showing a rare test flight by a prototype J-20. The report noted the Chinese planes would not have the range to make unsupported strikes against the continental U.S., but U.S. military bases and allies in the region are well within the potential target zone -- including air bases that have been home to the F-22 fighters.

I don’t care what the hardware is. US pilots will always be able to best any Chicom splash jockey.
This Chinese stealh aircraft is not an air superiority fighter like the F-22, it is a long range stealth tactical attack aircraft like the F-35.
I don’t believe it, not for even a millisecond.
And the brilliant chinese got their technology from???????
And hopefully they don’t get a hold of our stealth heli used in the bin Laden raid
Why not? Raptor’s technology is 20 yo.
May as well believe it. Clinton started the flood of giving/selling and allowing the Chinese to steal anything they wanted and that has not abated over the years including the Bush years.
And it seems like only yesterday the Clintons were selling them our technology for campaign donations.
Ah - so you’ve been reading debka.com again?
Don’t forget Gates, he said there would be no credible threat to the F-22 for a long time, when production was stopped. It appears he forgot to ask his buds the chicoms.
How’s that “free trade” thing working out, America?
(it’s how China got the technology, and will have the money, to build a LOT of those...)
Wake up people.
Im not surprised, given the amount of chinese who are entering technical fields when they enter university as opposed to ours who are focused on gender studies and other garbage arts programs which benefit nobody. Or how our children wish to become a sports icon or the next american idol. It is obvious who will win out in the long run if things dont change.
Off topic but the Chinese will never will a tank battle to many chinks in their armour.
could’a, would’a, might’a, maybe’a.... =.=
I would love to get a film of CHICOM'S first exercise of carrier take-offs and landings.
Very true, We are blessed with fantastic pilots............I miss those days.
That’s what Next generation aircraft do. They are built to be better than what exists. Why would anyone build a stealth fighter which was inferior to one already in production. That is why the next one we have in production will be better the the Chinese one.
It’s the name of the game.
Gee, ya think???
