Gallup: Bush Got Bigger Bounce for Catching Saddam Than Obama Got for Killing Bin Laden Monday, May 09, 2011 By Terence P. Jeffrey
(CNSNews.com) - President George W. Bush got a bigger bounce in his Gallup job approval rating for capturing Saddam Hussein than President Barack Obama got for killing Osama in Laden.
Obama got a 6-point bounce in his Gallup job approval after he announced that U.S. Navy SEALS had raided a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan and killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Bush got either a 7-point or a 9-point bouncedepending on the day you calculate from (Gallup used both figures)--after he announced that U.S. forces in Iraq had captured alive former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
Obamas approval rating was at 46 percent for the three-day period ending on April 30 and again for the three-day period ending on May 1. Late on Sunday, May 1, Obama announced U.S. forces had killed bin Laden. After that, Obamas job approval climbed for three straight days, peaking at 52 percent for the three-day period ending on May 4.
That equaled the highest job approval Obama has received at any time in the past year.
Americans' approval of President Barack Obama is up six points after the death of Osama bin Laden in a U.S. raid on the al Qaeda leader's Pakistan compound, Gallup reported on May 5.
However, Obamas post-bin-Laden approval remained at its 52 percent peak for just one day.

That’s because Bush went to the mike, made the announcement, turned it over to the military, and released the pics.
Obama ran his mouth and showed no evidence. That’s classic Obama though.
And Bush didn't think the story was actually about him.
Whomever we get to run as a Republican -- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make your ENTIRE campaign consist of replaying teh one's campaign promise to make gasoline prices skyrocket (Rush has the clip, does anyone have it handy?)
And that’s what’s important, the poll numbers, not the fact that the military caught two evil mass murderers, right Gallup? Right Democrats?
President Bush has Saddam Hussein’s firearm in his library.
Princess Boy will have the green squirt gun in his library.
Does that not speak volumes as to the difference between President Bush and President Obama??
Bush didn’t try to make the issue about him the way Me, I, My tried to do
Bush told of what was going on.
baraq sings an opera: “me me me me me me.....”
He got the same bounce as I do when my pickup runs over a piece of gravel on the highway.
“Gallup: Bush Got Bigger Bounce for Catching Saddam Than Obama Got for Killing Bin Laden “
Maybe thats because only about half of the population believes it even happened.
Humblegunner has Saddam Hussein's ashtray in his living room.
According to the 0bamatrons in the MSM, Zero personally killed OBL with his 9-iron.
“Thats because Bush went to the mike, made the announcement, turned it over to the military, and released the pics.”
All good points. He also originated the policy, and believed in it. BO is increasingly recognized as an “urban values” hustler.
I only use it for cigars.. out of respect.
For the ashtray.
Obama ran his mouth and showed no evidence. Thats classic Obama though.
Yup, every story about this was about "the tough call Obama had to make". Very little about the people who actually pulled it off, from the SEALS to intel officers they were virtually ignored while Bama ran to the teleprompter and tried to look tough. As another poster said, Obama got bin Laden like Nixon got us to the moon. Yes it happened on his watch and he pulled the trigger but it was built on years of hard work by others too.
And when Bush did announce it..it was ‘OUR MILITARY’ and OUR nation.
NOT “I” “me” “myself” 14 times in a 9 minute announcement like Klownie the Kenyan.
Imagine what the numbers would be without the aid of barry’s “journalist” whores and their manipulation of the brain dead.
