Doesn’t seem like a good time to fly.

LOL! THANK YOU!
We are not talking about a practical physics genius here, are we?

Getting an exit row is all about airline status, not size of the passenger.

“DB Cooper”
I think the plane was flying low. Also he could have died.

That’s like the flight crew telling everyone to turn off all electronic devices, when there are threads on here with concrete evidence that cell phones and the like have absolutely no impact on flight controls (last I remember, scheduled flights are not remotely controlled), or communications between the plane and tower/s.

The guy was probably lucky that there was an air marshal there to protect him I don't think you can open those doors in-flight anyway. They have some sort of lock in them to prevent that.

“Since when is stopping a lunatic from killing people “accosting”? “
Since: “military interrogation” became “torture”.
“The War on Terror” became “a kinetic military action in response to man made disasters”.
And since the killing of the mastermind of the largest terror attack in US History ends with a sensitive 40 minute Muslim funeral on the deck of our Aircraft carrier complete with prayers to Allah.

Personally, i’m voting for “had 3 too many at the airport lounge.” Most Muslims are not “burly” but are little wormy people. I think this was either a drunk or a nut - with, as you point out, no knowledge of physics and no common sense.

Olkons response makes the tall burly passenger description seem lacking in key details.Maybe "burly" is the new PC for "swarthy."

Hmmmmm...
Without the ‘burly’, you’ve just described all Liberal judges — add the ‘burly’ back in, and you’re only describing the female ones....

DB Cooper lowered the airstairs and jumped off them. That was just a little handle inside a compartment in the rear of the aircraft that had to be moved forward and the stairs dropped down from underneath. He had first told the pilots to fly at a lower altitude so there was no rapid decompression.
Emergency exit doors are larger than the door frame, so have to be pulled inside the aircraft before turning to open. They "plug" the door opening, so it is impossible to open them while the cabin is pressurized, even if the door has an automated assist.
