LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - An African-American political advocacy group is targeting "Celebrity Apprentice" star Donald Trump in the aftermath of what many feel are racially tinged political comments made about President Obama.
On Thursday, the organization ColorOfChange launched a Twitter-based campaign to persuade black "Celebrity Apprentice" cast members Star Jones and Lil Jon to denounce Trump for what the group terms "race-baiting."
Trump has made headlines in recent weeks by repeatedly questioning whether Obama was born in the U.S. Obama released his longform birth certificate April 27 with the hope of settling the matter, but the issue has been kept alive by a segment of the "birther" movement.
"This is the first organized attempt to target these celebrities and demand that they, as prominent African-Americans, take a public stance against Donald Trump's ongoing attacks against President Obama," ColorOfChange said in a statement.
Publicists representing Jones and Lil Jon did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
Groupon, the discount shopping website, pulled its online advertisements from the "Celebrity Apprentice" website last week after customers -- spurred on by progressive advocacy group ThinkProgress -- complained.
Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter contacted nearly all of the companies that have recently aired advertisements on the long-running reality competition series to ask whether they might follow in Groupon's footsteps.
"Apprentice" advertisers Kay Jewelers, Allstate, Microsoft and Procter & Gamble declined to comment on their advertising plans, and more than 30 others did not respond to phone calls and emails.
Rashad Robinson, executive director of ColorOfChange, said the campaign has started strongly. "We've gotten a lot of people tweeting," said Robinson, adding that the goal is to send a message to Jones, Lil Jon and other "Celebrity Apprentice" cast members that "they can't have a relationship with the black community

I. Am hearing rumblings about the repubs settling on the debt ceiling without getting anything for it. Unless the repubs do something spectacular, we can probably conclude that they are not a conservative party either.
We may all be along for the ride, no matter who we elect, the outcome is eventually the same.
Doing whatever it takes to make boy-zero feel like a man.
Clearly, secession is the answer.
"The withdrawal of a State from a league has no revolutionary or insurrectionary characteristic. The government of the State remains unchanged as to all internal affairs. It is only its external or confederate relations that are altered. To term this action of a Sovereign a 'rebellion' is a gross abuse of language."

Star Jones will do it unless she is in the finale.
But why they aren’t going after the others who were on the show this season? Dionne Warwick and the trashy ghetto Yeti reality show housewife (can’t remember her name).
I find it very strange and interesting that a group would bring this up now. Trump hasn,t said anything about the bc since before apr. 27. And if I remember correctly the media is the only one who has brought it up.
I don’t believe they are worried about the bc, its something else, like the ssn and selective service.
Look for Trump to stand up the days before the Celebrity Apprentice’s finale. Look for Obama to ‘wag the dog’ the day before or the night of.
Look for Hillary in the shadows.
It's a conspiracy. People don't have enough to worry about with this SOB in office that they keep beating this dead horse.
It is old and pathetic at this point.
I think Lil’ John likes the Donald.
Marginalizing Trump - After Obama and Seth Myers dumped all over Trump at the Correspondent’s Dinner, you know that Trump would have been out on Monday to blast Obama some more - on how inappropriate his “jokes” were, the birth certificate possibly being fake, asking for more records, etc. But the trigger was pulled on Osama that Sunday, and the moment was trumped. Trump really could not say anything more at that time.
Begin the Groupon Boycott!
The very name is racist.
It’s got nothing to do with race, moron (not you, Scanian) and everything to do with a Marxist serial liar who is singularly unqualified to be where he is!
Hi ____,
Thanks for your feedback.
While Groupon has never been a sponsor of The Apprentice on TV or on the web, enough consumers contacted us to warrant ensuring that our ads dont appear on the Apprentice homepage in the future. We aren't boycotting anyone - we're simply avoiding doing something that we know would intentionally upset a large group of our customers.
Please understand that as a rule Groupon avoids taking sides in polarizing political issues. We always strive to offer the best deals possible for our customers and appreciate all of your feedback to that end.
Regards,
Anjali

I'd like to know who their “large group of customers” are....evidently I'm not in that demographic.
I told them why I was dropping out of their program and that I would urge others to do the same. Maybe that had something to do with the quick reply. I find it interesting that they reacted so quickly on a Sunday. Sounds like they need to be pounded by a lot of Freepers.
Here’s what I sent:
Shame on you for buckling to the race hustlers who are dividing and destroying this country! Trump is not a racist, and it’s ludicrous to say so. I’m contacting everyone I know via my online communities, and telling them that Groupon is in the thrall of anti-white bigots.
Post all you want, but nothing is catching any wind.
They keep this up and Trump is going to investigate Obama forever.
As I get older, and I see more of what goes on in politics, I am more and more convinced that what exists in Washington is the most corrupt and malevolent force in the world. The layers of secrecy are bottomless. Remember the old "Shadow" introduction? "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow does..."
