House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Thursday blamed the "two oil men in the White House," President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, and their Republican allies in Congress for gas prices exceeding $4 a gallon.

Pelosi, a California Democrat, said multiple initiatives intended to lower high energy costs have passed the Democratically controlled House only to "run into a brick wall" in the Senate because they did not receive the 60 votes needed to overcome Republican filibusters.

"The price of oil is... is attributed to two oil men in the White House and their protectors in the United States Senate," Pelosi said in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

Pelosi’s botox treatments are starting to squeeze her brain. It hurts my brain every time I have to read or hear her squeakiness.

"And now they're doing it, just to make Obama look bad!"

As if he needed their help!

Where’s the “big one” when we need it? This woman defines bimbo.

She makes Catie Couric look almost normal.

Of course, a follow-on question from Wolf asking for a bit more in the way of explanation would way too much to hope for.

Bush and Cheney made oil prices go up in 2011?

That is right she doesn't understand supply and demand as it went down yesterday because of the US in heading for a depression and demand is lowered , don't tell her.

If Nancy Pelosi blamed high gas prices on “the oil men in the White House” back in 2008, shouldn’t she blame today’s high gas prices on the snake oil men in the White House?

blame today’s high gas prices on the snake oil men in the White House?...

Can start with Soros and the rats for $billions to drill in Brazil.

W/ Zer0, its been nonstop attacks on the domestic oil industry, whether it be Gulf oil drilling, leases... anywhere, put-down of Shell after $billions invested

"The price of oil is... is attributed to two oil men in the White House and their protectors in the United States Senate," Pelosi said in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

This woman is a dummy for sure! Simple supply and demand economics explains the current cost of gasoline at the pump. Speculators "bet" on the perceived supply going in one direction or another. Right now the perceived supply is threatened by world events.

The United States could address this by encouraging self sufficiency via building more refineries and tapping available oil reserves in Alaska, off the coasts, and in the Gulf of Mexico. Perceived supply will go up and speculation will go down.

Moronic Democrat shilling by blaming Bush, and others for their own actions to trash the oil industry in America, is nonsense, utter nonsense!

Pelosi is incapable of explaining even the simplest premise of economic science. She is the dumbest Speaker ever to serve. A BOX OF ROCKS comes to mind

I work with rocks every day (I'm a geologist). Frankly, I think you owe rocks everywhere a BIG apology.

Connecticut has the 4th largest gas tax in the country at .63 per gallon. It's my understanding that the oil companies make around .08 per gallon.

So, WHO'S more to blame for high prices?

You are exactly correct. Why no Republicans outside of Sarah Palin can get this message across and out to the general public is beyond me.

When asked about high oil prices Obamas answer was to get rid of tax incentives to oil companies (that would kill about half of the independent companies in the US that drill the majority of domestic wells, eliminate untold jobs and result in yet more imported, higher priced oil) and develop more ‘green energy’ (won’t work, only a pimple on an elephants ass in terms of supply and requires years of lead time); read ‘give incentives to GE’. Those are exactly the WRONG things to do.

I mean, I’m all for clean energy; we have t ons of natural gas to develop. If all the green technologies could make money, don’t you think the Exxons and BPs would be all over it?

Thanks for your comment.

I think most of the responses on this thread missed your whole point in posting this.

Where is The Media today on this issue. They're telling us that high gas prices are great for the planet, will lead to fewer highway deaths (because of less driving) and will lead people to buy more fuel efficient vehicles and more green energy technology.

It seems that high gas prices are only bad if there's a Republican living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. If there's a Democrat there, high gas prices are a good thing.

Still, the Republicans have failed miserably on this issue. During the Easter break, every Republican Congress Critter should have been out in front of a gas station, with at least their own video cameras running for their own YouTube channel, and with invitations to all of the media. They should be demanding that we develop our energy resources. Drill offshore, drill onshore, drill in ANWR, drill, baby drill!

They could have called in on local talk radio shows and publicized the events. Called on TEA Parties and other grass roots organizations to make those rallies big enough that even the current media couldn't ignore them forever. However, instead, they chose to remain silent. Republicans are afraid to be part of the solution.

But the Stupid party is afraid to stand up for our own sovereignty and developing our own resources. They might offend the environmentalists.
