Chelsea Clinton's baby talk makes mom's day

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been rather busy lately, but she’ll certainly take the time to smile when she reads her daughter Chelsea’s latest quote.

At a benefit for Friendfactor, a social networking site focused on LGBT rights, Clinton told New York magazine that she hopes to have children one day with husband Marc Mezvinsky. The two were married last July.

Said Clinton: "I certainly believe that those of us who are straight cannot expect our gay friends to do this on [their] own. … And I certainly expect our straight friends to help us achieve that for all New Yorkers, for all American, and for all the children that at least Marc and I hope to have someday."

Celebration time for the future grandparents! As Bill Clinton said back in January: “I would like to have a happy wife and she won’t be unless she’s a grandmother. It’s something she wants more than she wanted to be president.”

Well, if Chelsea Clinton wants to have a child, what's the big deal? Why does she have to mix that statement with "...those of us who are straight cannot expect our gay friends to do this on their own"? Does that mean that she's obliged to have children to make up for the lack of reproduction from the gay population?

BTW, a supermarket tabloid printed a story a few months ago to the effect that Clinton and Mezvinsky were going to break up.

Remember - this is Bill Clinton talking. So he's speaking the truth, if you know how to parse his words. In this case, Hillary believes being a grandmother will help her get elected - so before that can happen, Chelsea has to have a kid. Therefore, she wants that "more" than being president - for right now. But after the kid is born...
