(Reuters) - A senior Pakistani security official said U.S. troops killed Osama bin Laden in "cold blood", fuelling a global controversy and straining a vital relationship Washington was trying to repair on Thursday.
And Pakistan's army, in its first comment since Monday's raid, threatened to halt cooperation with its military sponsor if it repeated what it called a violation of sovereignty.
But Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Washington was still anxious to maintain its alliance with Islamabad.
"It is not always an easy relationship. You know that," she said.
"But, on the other hand, it is a productive one for both our countries and we are going to continue to cooperate between our governments, our militaries, our law-enforcement agencies, but most importantly between the American and Pakistani people."

Yeah?
So?
How would you know? you weren’t there...
OOpsie...did we forget to tell you guys we were comin?
I think the early story that came out was correct - OBL did have the AK47 that he was known to have at his side at all times. The administration later changed it and said he was unarmed. Oh what a tangled web we weave.....
but 2. The White House has been lying. There was no firefight.
The WH is stupid! once your caught in a lie people wonder what Else you have been lying about.
The Operation was Stellar!!!!
The White House handleing has been keystone cops!
Good. I hope they made him grovel and beg for his miserable life before they made him get on all fours and sniff the muzzle.
I’d say 9-11 was enough to make anyone’s blood boil. In Cold Blood my arse. The Paks keep this line of bull up long enoug and 7-11 stores are going to start losing money.
What truly bothers me is the fact that Pakistan has the audacity to say they are essentially ticked at the U.S. I think I am beginning to understand why Usama was in “plain sight” essentially for all these years. Pakistan felt like the U.S. wouldn’t get him because they had some sort of “authority” over us. Almost like Usama was safe because Pakistan told the U.S. to go away?!
What goes around, comes around.
Sincerely,
U.S.A.
No one has bungled anything; yet.
The photos should be released; but that's not a huge issue yet.
A literature professor is going to a America hating lefty 99% of time.
Someone like that will always feel shame anytime our country does something good such as killing a murderous parasite.
I think people here at FR should not bitch so much at the very minor things such as different accounts of what happened or how long it took to decide.
Bottom line is that for once, the administration let a good thing happen and acted in the nation's best interests.
We used our nations best and brightest military folks and our nations best military technology to do something very good for our nations best interest.
And I'll guarantee that a literature professor wouldn't have any understanding of why that is a good thing.
From what John Bolter said the other night on FOX, we give them money because they have nuclear weapons. We do not want them to align with someone else against us.
Well, at least we didn’t drag him through the streets afterward...and we didn’t waterboard him first.
Of course, but consider the backlash for “cold-blooded” ‘murderer’ Obama ... one might say his “chickens are coming home to roost.”
“In cold blood” refers to the person performing the act. As far as killing OBL is concerned, “in cold blood” is exactly what I would hope for from our military. Someone please tell the “senior Pakistani security official” it’s time to clean the slurpee machine.
Iowahawk has a great article up about the amazing moral flexibility of the left, and how Obama is completely annihilating his own leftist credentials.
"Little did I know that this untested young Commander-in-Chief would muster the courage to read his weekly Gallup numbers and, in one daring unilateral extra-judicial targeted hit job, toss aside every single idiotic foreign policy principle of his election campaign. Perhaps most satisfyingly, it was a mission made possible thanks to information extracted by methods he previously banned as "illegal torture."
But this triumphant new era in situationally-unified American bloodlust does not belong to the President alone; we must also cite Congress's born-again waterboarders like Nancy Pelosi and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and their newfound enthusiasm for what (at least until 9pm Sunday) they would have once considered illegal military murder squads. Neither can we forget the watchdogs of America's press, who have shown unprecedented ethical flexibility in shedding their long-held Gandhi moralism and embracing their inner Rambo.
Thanks to leaders like these, American pride is temporarily back out of the closet. And I for one take great personal satisfaction in knowing that when I'm high-fiving a random fellow American and robotically chanting "USA! USA!" at the news that Bin Laden is finally shark chum, there's a pretty good chance that the guy was, only a few years ago, denying his love for unauthorized secret CIA-planned assassinations."
In the end, leftists will support Obama because they're sheep. But at least the veil of hypocrisy is torn down. Even the die hard college professors know the truth about Obama now. The man is an complete hoax. Their support of his actions makes liars of them all, and a joke out of their cherished beliefs.
It will be quite interesting to see just how Barry spins this. Will he try to throw the military under the bus? How many Democrats can truly stomach this?
Dear Pakistan ... go pound sand
It was just a matter of time...
It is nonetheless a victory for America, although we have a constipated, obstinate president in the White House, again refusing to listen to the American people’s voices.
The arab world undoubtedly see the weakness in this administration and their dear leader and will exploit the fumbling of information and how the killng is being handled. Trying to appease the enemy is a sign of weakness, rightly so, in the middle east.
Since, our nation’s leader is a playground president presiding as a bully, when in reality he is a wus.
This is the most dangerous egomaniac power grabbers, the one’s who gain some form of power to feed their egomania, after they have been wusses all their lives, they gain a false sense of courage and direct that courage in all the wrong directions.
God help America
“cold blood”??
Is that like killing unarmed civilians without provocation?
Well, borrowing a line from Clint Eastwood: ‘If he was going to kill several thousand unarmed Americans in buildings and planes - then he should have armed himself.’
If we get pushed to the point of war with Pakistan so be it. I recall after 9/11 they were told if they don’t cooperate in Afghanistan the next step would be bombing - of them. That’s how they told it.
