CBS News Poll analysis by the CBS News Polling Unit: Sarah Dutton, Jennifer De Pinto, Fred Backus and Anthony Salvanto.
A new CBS News/New York Times poll shows President Obama's overall approval rating has jumped by an impressive 11 percentage points in the wake of the U.S. military mission which killed Osama bin Laden, and there is overwhelming support for how Mr. Obama handled the situation.
But Americans do not feel safer. In fact, the poll shows that six out of every ten Americans believe the threat of terrorism will increase in the U.S. over the next few months as a result of bin Laden's death.
The poll found that 57 percent of Americans generally approve of Mr. Obama in the wake of the raid in Pakistan. Two weeks ago, when bin Laden was still America's most-wanted terrorist, the president's overall approval rating was at 46 percent. A whopping 85 percent of those polled gave Mr. Obama high marks for his handling of the operation to find bin Laden.
It's unclear, however, how long Mr. Obama's rise in the polls will last.

Trust me .
Sheppy , Ted Baxter ( Oreilly) , and company will peddle any cooked poll for their DEAR Marxist without question!!!!
This is kill UBL euphoria and nothing more. This does very little to change our war on terror as the intel value has now been wasted by publicity. If anything it increases the threat level and intensity.
Watch what happens now that ‘Genius’ has announced the ‘no photo’ news - like we all didn’t know this was coming.
So, we allegedly have an assacination, but we have NO BODY, NO VERIFIED PHOTO, and bogus DNA evidence pending. And, we didn’t even capture the witnesses of the event. Wow, what a plan!
Heads up for falling ratings.
There is no reason to doubt that BO will get some degree of bump from this - largely amongst the “independents”, whose support is notoriously soft and fleeting.
Late this summer, when more savings accounts are depleted, gas is $6.15 per gallon, and people can only afford to run their air conditioners in part of the house for part of day, this will no longer be remembered.
As time goes by, this event will seem less important anyway. This is by no means to slight the skill of dedication of those who brought it about, but all it achieved was to kill one particular water moccasin, when the real need is to drain the swamp kill off all of the snakes.
The “Osama bump”?......LOL!.....Crapolla!
It is more of a blip than a bump. Here today, gone tomorrow.
What kind of bump did Churchill get when Hitler died?
The See-BS poll was of Americans right?
I’ve noticed the same thing.
I’m surprised they don’t call him George W. Bin Laden.
