The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that time has almost run out for the Florida Legislature in their efforts to pass an immigration bill similar to the one passed in Arizona last year. The bill had been pushed by Tea Party supporters while immigrant groups and large businesses had opposed the measure.

If the Orlando Sentinel is reporting this doomed, it still has a better than 50/50 chance of passing. Guess Disney wants to keep it’s undocumented housekeepers and restaurant help.
disney is too big and public to allow illegals.
think tomato and orange farmers. FL has big agriculture to push for open illegal aliens. (not to mention third world miami)
Disney is strongly against this bill
If it doesn’t pass there will be a price to pay in the next elections!
We won’t win every battle, but Florida is definitely moving to the right. Rick Scott has pushed for some good policies but has not been 100% successful. He has to work with a Republican legislature that is not always friendly to the Tea Party.
Eventually, I think the RINOs in the legislature will be replaced with conservatives. One step at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

The leftmedia just the other day was prophesying about how the conservative government in Canada was going down in flames, and anyone who's been following that saw how it really turned out.
Big Cotton didn't like the end of slavery either.
‘If it doesnt pass there will be a price to pay in the next elections!’
The biggest price would be the US Senate campaign of Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolus, who will either take the wrong side or, if he takes the right side, be shown to be impotent. He had better get it passed or fold his campaign.
I watched the debate- they gutted the Senate bill (SB 2040), and voted down Thrasher’s amendment that would have fined employers who hire illegals. All it does now is require unemployment offices to verify workers status before sending them out on jobs (not reporting them to INS or anything like that), require state agencies to check immigration status on people applying for assistance, and allow (!) law enforcement to check the status of people arrested.
The House version (HB 7089) is much tougher, with mandatory E-Verify for employers, prohibits sanctuary cities, requirements on local law enforcement to check status and notify INS, and much more.
The House is not likely to take up this watered down Senate bill, knowing if they substitute their stronger bill, it will eat up hours of debate time, and only end up dying in the RINO Senate.
Bottom line: Kudos to the House, Payback to the Senate RINOS.
You can check the vote on Thrasher’s good amendment here to see how your Senators voted: http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2011/2040/FloorVotes/Eyb9rrk7JgWm1yDfyoRCWFZ1gmc=|7/Public/Votes/Amendment/20110503/SenateVote_s2040c1029.PDF
