Dwayne Johnson: Guys Should Grow a Pair Before Driving a Hybrid
Fox News ^ | May 04, 2011 | Hollie McKay

Attention all guys that drive or are intending to drive Toyota’s famous hybrid electric hatchback, the Prius.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson advises you to check your manhood first.

“You can drive a Prius, sure," the star of “Fast Five” told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. But you should also grow testicles before that."

“For me, a vehicle is a thing to get me from point A to point B with reasonable safety and comfort. I don’t “get” those who see it as an extension of their personality, politics, or manliness.”

The same thought applies to any car. For years I used to buy 10-year old beaters for a song, drive them into the ground and get another one 3 years later.

No woman ever went out of her way to give me a glance while driving one of those cars. Drove my bosses new Jag to lunch one day and there were several women gawking and salivating at the car while looking at me.

In the shallowness of our society, Point A to Point B is a chance to get laid. Slick cars are just fancy tail feathers. Not that there’s anything wrong with that...

LOL

DUMB DUMB cars are safe, have you ever seen a crash at 20 miles per hour?

I did and the engine at the front was coming out the back at 20MPH.
Now imagine 50 MPH off a F250, hell imagine a car hitting a dummy car at that speed.

Small Merc, LOL it’s a supped up golf cart.
I went in one and they are the most awful ting I have driven, though I did drive it around the back of a building so no one could see me driving that cart.

Who ever designed it must be shouting suckers when they find they’ve sold one.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not for driving massive cars if you do not need one but the dum dum golf carts should be banned from the road IMHO of course

SUVs were designed for the same type of guy, but one who wants to keep his tools/ guns warm and dry.

most of my friends in construction drive small SUVs. slightly better gas mileage, plenty room for tools, and enough power to pull a trailer if more room is needed.

I couldn't tell him either LOL. I agree drive what you need, I'm sure you've seen the caddy pick up and all chromed up but never leaves the tarmac, but seeing those dumb dumb cars for the dummies to drive just crack us all up. The people I've seen driving them think they're so cool and yet have no idea everyone one of us at work, neighbors, family laugh at them. We were driving and stopped at a light when we saw one of the dummy cars. We're in our van behind it, to the left was a pick up, to the right a pick up and in front was an SUV. Guarantee the girlie guy couldn't see anything around him but the funny thing was that the guys either side were looking out of their window at the golf car laughing at him.

Smug and condescending go well with “green” and disregard for fellow mankind:

I want a four door like that , not the small back end and have it all black out, slightly larger wheels, hate the small wheels that Ford puts on them

I used to see a monster Dodge Ram 3500 crew cab long bed dualie in the parking lot every day. It was pristine the whole time, didn’t look like it had ever hauled anything or been off the paved road. IMHO it was just the guy’s penis extension commuter car, and it annoyed everybody by sticking way out of the parking space.

It’s pretty much the opposite side of the same coin from these metrosexuals and their penis retractions.

OTOH, I know many guys with big pickups, and they’d never survive with something less, it’s practical. I also know a guy who has a Smart purely out of practical reasons. I know it’s not an eco-weenie thing because his other car is a sports car that he loves to race on the track.

I have, the standard half head-on with another compact car, with dummies. The Smart driver would have had little injury.

I did and the engine at the front was coming out the back at 20MPH.

Now I know you don't know what you're talking about because the engine IS at the back.

I went in one and they are the most awful ting I have driven,

Quick, describe the transmission. Given the above I'm doubting your claims.

Now imagine 50 MPH off a F250

Now imagine that F250 60 MPH off a Peterbilt. There's always a bigger fish.

Small Merc, LOL it’s a supped up golf cart.

A golf cart doesn't protect its driver with a steel alloy cage. Not only does it have its own crumple zones (that includes the tires as an energy absorber), it's designed to trigger the crumple zones in cars that hit it. In the end mass usually wins of course, but they made up for a lot of it with advanced crash safety technology.

When I see an F-350, or a Cummins Ram, or an H2, all chromed up, bedliner as smooth as a baby's bottom, no sign of ever having touched a surface that's not pavement, the only word that comes to mind is "POSER".

When I see a vintage Land Rover, or a CJ, or an OJ-era Bronco, dented up some and with an inch or two of mud on the wheels, the only word that comes to mind is "WANT".

men driving fairy cars need to have a word with themselves.

For about three years I drove a little blue Karmann Ghia.

It attracted more cute, heterosexual young ladies than any car I ever drove before or since.

If I ever get divorced I'll probably buy another one within a month of signing the papers.

I also get requests from hybrid owners to drive their children to X or Y since they can’t fit their kids (instruments, football gear, etc) in their car. It does get rather awkward.

I don't think it would be rude to suggest that they buy some carbon credits on your behalf.

;-)

Was he driving a Hybrid, like a good comrade?/s

(it’d be tough enough to get one of those things to 100 KILOMETERS an hour, much less 100 MPH!;)

Every time I see a "Smart" Car, I think "Gee, I'd like to get a matched set and use them for roller skates". :-)

They have a use. If I lived in the big city, or in a retirement community where all I needed was something to get from the store to the golf course to the club, they'd make perfect sense. Great for a place where the speed limit is a hard 20 mph.

However, I see one regularly on my morning commute. It's on a 6-8 lane, 70 mph freeway. The car is more in the air, than on the road. All I can think of is that if this guy ever gets creamed by an 18 wheeler, the trucker may never know about it until he stops.

Electric cars are NOT zero pollution. They merely redirect their pollution from the exhaust pipe to the electrical generation station (in the USA this is probably coal).

And the strip mines in Chile and Russia where the lithium and nickel are gathered that generate huge amounts of pollution. (Not to mention that they do it cheaper than can be done here. Lithium mines in Chile undercut a couple of mines here in North Carolina and drove them to close shop.)

I like the Bronco 1- a cross between a Jeep and Mustang.

Serious off-roader. The Nuge owns a nice one.(or at least used to)
