Jimmie tackled some of this earlier but heres the vid from todays presser for those who missed it. If the SEALs tactics on the ground had been as sloppy and confused as the White Houses handling of the media aftermath, Bin Laden and his crew would be dragging their bodies through the streets of Abbottabad as I write this. How did we go from Bin Laden had a weapon and was using his wife as a human shield to Bin Laden was unarmed and didnt have a human shield in the span of 24 hours when theres apparently helmet-cam footage of the whole raid? Surely, surely, the White House knew that conspiracy cranks and naysayers would cite every discrepancy in the official narrative as proof that Bin Ladens still alive or whatever. Didnt they
watch the video before chatting with the press?

So? The people in the WTC were unarmed when they were murdered.

If he had been sleeping soundly, he should have been taken out.

"How did we go from Bin Laden had a weapon and was using his wife as a human shield to Bin Laden was unarmed and didnt have a human shield in the span of 24 hours when theres apparently helmet-cam footage of the whole raid? It's called political spin, and the White House has their machine turned up to maximum rpm.

According to the photo they released, Obama and his aides watched the action live. So how they could not describe what happened accurately is a mystery. Makes one wonder if they were actually watching a movie.

I told mu nephew today that before this was over they would have the Seals on trial.
If they do we need to tear down the courthouse.
Obama is trying to take credit, it’s time he took the heat also.

“I knew from past intelligence that UBL was known to be armed, his hands where hidden from view, he did not respond to orders to show his hands and surrender. I believed my life and the lives of my fellow SEALs were in real and immediate danger.”
“And he just needed killin’.”

At least he was given the chance to surrender.
It sure would have been great to be a fly on the wall to see how long it was from the time he said "NO" until the time the bullet forced the issue.

Michael Savage made quite an issue today about this very issue. He asked if it makes sense Obama didn't reach for a weapon the moment he knew the compound was under assault. He also cited reports that there were no security forces on site and asked if that made sense.
In both cases, assuming the second is true, my response is "no".
In time a number of questions about this operation are sure to emerge. These are a start.

In the article:
When Benson asked the first U.S. official whether bin Laden tried to grab a weapon or physically attack a commando, the official said only, He didnt hold up his hands and surrender.
That's sounds like justification to shoot to me!

Didnt they
watch the video before chatting with the press? That would be, like, professional dude, you know, and adult, and establishment, and like why would he want to be all stuff and checking on what he says like it's planned out and all when we elected him to end Bush's wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya, and to close Gitmo, and not waterboard because that doesn't work, and all?

So, there was an article in Der Spiegel bitching and moaning about whether this action was or was not permitted under international law. We just about broke our kidneys at work laughing about this. The Germans, of course, are well-known to be the standard-bearers of international law and the treatment of civilians in war...

I assume that this Jay Carney is the carnival barker that Zero had previously referred to in one of his press conferences!

I assume you mean security for UBL. The reason he would not have a large bodyguard would be a large entourage would have blown his security. A compound being patrolled by armed guards would have brought suspicion from intelligence agencies from around the world. In order to hide, the compound could not appear out of the ordinary. It is possible to hide in the open. A guy in my hometown was a wiseguy on the lam from the FBI, he actually walked out of a minimum security prison. Law enforcement never caught him. For years he lived in a secret room in the basement of his own house. It did him no good thou, because about 10 years after, the police found him stuffed in a drum with two bullets in the back of his head.
An interesting supposition is that his slow communications led to his watery grave. About a week ago, a wikileaks release named the courier. UBL was without any modern communications for security reasons, and had to rely on couriers. By the time he could of learned of this release it was too late.

I don’t care if he was watching “Jeopardy” and eating a nutty buddy and they shot him in the back. He’s gone just like a rodent.
