President 'slept on it' as tense military chiefs awaited decision Action started the next morning when Obama declared 'it's a go' Mission delayed by one day after heavy cloud cover on Saturday night Navy seals dodged Pakistani security to reach Bin Laden's lair Outpouring of emotion on streets down to 'the same sense of unity that prevailed on 9/11' Obama told members of Congress
Barack Obama kept military commanders hanging by declaring he would 'sleep on it' before taking 16 hours to give the go-ahead to raid Bin Laden's compound.
Hit squads of specialist Navy Seals - who were not even told who they were preparing to capture - had practised the mission at two reconstructions of the terror chiefs sprawling compound.
The mission looked set to be given the all clear last Thursday when analysts confirmed beyond doubt that Bin Laden was in busy town of Abbottabad in northern Pakistan.

Posted this on the other thread as well:
Using EST, If the helicopters arrived at 4pm and the firefight lasted 40 minutes, its safe to say the body was probably not photographed, bagged, and in the air until 5pm at the earliest.
8 hours later its on a ship in the North Arabian Sea getting prepped to be dumped overboard?
During those 8 hours, according to the media, the body is flown by helicopter Northwest into Afghanistan some 200+ miles, it lands, they take out the body. They do DNA testing and facial recognition. They rebag the body, load it back into another helicopter, and fly 1000 miles to a US ship in the North Arabian Sea. All in 8 hours?
Not saying he is alive or anything like that. Just questioning the timeline. Why the rush?
Oh, please. Do tell, your majesty...
Doesn’t matter if he took a nap or played a round of golf. He got him.
Or should I say he allowed our armed forces to get him.
Spineless, jellyfish of a pissant. Needed time to get a pedicure, facial, manicure and watch “Say Yes to the Dress”.
A caller on Rush today said it perfectly. If he hadn’t gone ahead, it would later have been leaked and we would end up with either Hillery or our GOP candidate. IOW, his hand was forced. It had nothing to do with his desire to hunt terrorist, execute the war on terror or assure America’s protection. It was simply damage control that he’s now trying to spin as a consequence of ‘his’ policies. Total BS.
Hmmm... That thumb looks extraordinarily long. I’m just sayin...
“This story says they confirmed Thursday he was in this town and this house”
Director Panetta is on the record as saying they never had confirmation. Estimates were 60-80%.

LOL
It was a tough decision.
I’m sure the ghost of Carter’s failed Iranian hostage rescue attempt haunted him. He is already being compared to Carter.
A failed mission would have turned him into an undisputed lame duck over night.
He’ll get a temporary bump...but it won’t last.
Obama had no choice given the circumstances. He delayed the inevitable for a while, but had to do exactly what he campaigned so hard against.....the right thing.
VOICE FROM THE BACK OF THE ROOM: "This 16 hour delay can't go on any longer if you expect of having ANY chance of interrupting the last portion of "The Apprentice" with the news of this mission!!"
OBAMA: "Let's do this thing!!"
Did he play golf or make a campaign speech during that 16 hours?
Wait, wasn’t he busy at the goofy Media comedy dinner?
Life is tough, but it’s even tougher when you’re a stupid indecisive coward.
I agree totally, although I have a little different take on it.
I believe we still have the body. The dumped at sea was a trial balloon to see if the Middle East would explode. Since the reaction has been muted, I suspect he will be dumped in the sea shortly.
Fed to Mr. Woo’s pigs ala “Deadwood” would be more to my liking.
You are obligated to ping his majesty upon casting such aspersions lol...
