President Barack Obama and other administration officials are considering releasing a photo of Osama bin Laden's corpse on Tuesday, according to a report.
Also being considered for release are videos from "helmet cams" of the Navy SEALS elite team that carried out the operation in a town just north of Islamabad, Pakistan, ABC News reported. The troops captured the mission on tape wearing the helmet cameras.
"We are looking at releasing additional information, details about the raid as well as any other types of material, possibly including photos. We want to understand exactly what the possible reaction might be to the release of this information," White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan said, according to the report.
Had they released them Sunday night..it woudl be a non issue now..
I didn’t say or suggest that the rest of the operation was faked. I merely questioned why they can’t release the photo of the dead osama?
I’d like to see the face. Did osama have brothers? What about his sons. How close would their DNA’s be? With their multiple wive’s and such, how close can they get to being certain of a DNA match?
Yes, now they are worried about 'sensitivity'. *rolling eyes*
Yes, I do. That is why, since Post 10, I have been saying that Obama was an idiot to dispose of the body in the ocean instead of displaying it to the news media and anybody else that wanted to see it like the Bolivians did in the case of Che Guevara's body.
One photo or a dozen photos taken by U.S. Government photographers = Plausible to claim a fake.
Thousands of photos taken by dozens of different photographers from countries all over the World = Not plausible at all to claim they are all fakes.
You are arguing against your own points.
You do understand, dont you, that Bin Laden had become increasingly isolated and didnt hold much influence over al qaeda anyway?
Yes, that is why I have stated, repeatedly in this thread, that Osama's value was as a SYMBOL to inspire the Arab Street against America.
Again, you are arguing against your own points.
You do understand, dont you, that the Taliban has done just fine recruiting in Afghanistan without any input from Bin Laden?
Yes, and, unlike you, I know that there are many degrees of success that are higher than "just fine". Osama bin Ladin spurred recruiting ALL OVER THE WORLD AND VERY SUCCESSFULLY.
Now you are arguing that "Osama did not matter, so why bother one way or the other".
You do understand, dont you, that there are more terrorists who are not affiliated with al qaeda or Bin Laden who seek to destroy Westerners as well as other muslims?
Nooooo???? Reeeeaaaaly????? I never knew that!
By that strange logic, why bother fighting the Mafia when the Bloods & and the Crips produce other criminals?
By that strange logic, why bother fighting Breast Cancer when Colon Cancer also kills people?
By that strange logic, why bother fighting Hitler when Tojo has all of Japan fighting against the U.S.?
Logic does not seem to be your strong suit.
The bottom line is that Barack Obama was an idiot for throwing away the body in the current Age of Photoshop.
Unless al Qaeda proclaims Osama bin Ladin a Martyr, Obama will have allowed al Qaeda to retain a powerful SYMBOL that millions of America's enemies will continue to believe is still alive.
“I thought I saw a picture of the dead Osama posted on FR this morning. It looked real. Had a greenish hue and a military man next to him.”
that was a fake pic
Finally. Someone who gets it.
OK OK don’t make this thread about Palin’s electoral chances.
Obama is an idiot no matter what. Why do you care what our enemies think?
“Unless al Qaeda proclaims Osama bin Ladin a Martyr, Obama will have allowed al Qaeda to retain a powerful SYMBOL that millions of America’s enemies will continue to believe is still alive. “
Not only that but they will think the US is desperate and incompetent. “They couldn’t kill him for real, Obama was sagging in the polls so they made a story about how OBL was dumped to sea. How conveeeeeenient!”
