What a load of Elk crap! The May 2011 issue of American Hunter has an article about a man who deals in antlers. There is a large business in sheds and racks that are sold to be ground up into medicines, used to make rustic furniture, etc. He said that even trophy racks are worth about $6 a pound.
I also go to a high end auction 4 times a year and in the last one they had a complete formerly world record Elk. Not just the antlers, the entire mounted animal. It went for around $3000. If this guy managed to get a set of antlers insured for $500k he had the stupidest insurance broker on the planet.

Not so sure about that. Most insurance companies will gladly take premiums. If your willing to pay they will insure.
I’d say the guy paying the premiums was the stupid one.
