The Conservatives share values with the GOP here in terms of foreign policy. What they do internally is a reflection of the difference in culture of the USA and Canada. Remember at the time of our revolution, the loyalists went to what is now Canada... They will always be more statist and socialist - it is in the Canadian blood, just as we have our entrepreneurial individuality.. Harper is on the whole a good guy and we should be happy he has a majority

Strange comment considering who the US President is and who holds power in the US Senate.

I don’t know if this is the correct assumption and correct me if wrong, but you don’t see a lot of people immigrating (legal or illegal) to Canada to get a free ride.

With more people to steer the ship rather than just riding in it, you can understand why they could afford to be more “statist and socialist” overall. They just don’t have the amount of people not pulling their weight that we do.

It sounds like this was almost the Canadian version of Nov. 2 which is pretty neat.
