According to another one of those White House briefings of reporters designed to suck up all available credit for good news, President Obama's homeland security advisor reveals that it was a really tense time in the air-conditioned White House as unidentified U.S. Navy SEALs closed in on the world's most wanted man after midnight a half a world away.
"Minutes passed like days," says John Brennan, who bravely stood with press secretary Jay Carney before reporters and TV cameras today chronicling his boss' weekend heroics.
The heavily-armed commandos flying in a quartet of darkened Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters more than 100 miles into Pakistan were probably listening to their iPods and discussing the NFL draft.
"The concern was that bin Laden would oppose any type of capture operation," said Obama's Sherlock Holmes. So U.S. troops were prepared "for all contingencies."
In fact, this weekend was such a tense time in the White House that Obama only got in nine holes of golf. But he still managed to deliver his joke script to the White House Correspondents Assn. dinner Saturday evening.

I call BS on that. Obama unarmed? The whacko slept with an AK 47 or one near reach. He was wanted DEAD OR ALIVE and wasn’t a cowboy he was a terrorist. He was armed and probably had booby traps set our wise team avoided.
If Bush continues to get any credit the media will hype this garbage and call the ACLU for Obama’s family.
and prolly in such a way as not to have to take any blame if things went south

That sounds more like the muzzie sob- that he was too cowardly to give the order.
His amateurism and lack of patriotism have and will cost our country dearly, financially, morally and defensively!
I saw parts of the press conference. Brennen said something to the effect of ‘i’ve never seen such bravery in a commander in chief.’ Way OTT.
Oops.
IMPORTANT SPECIFIC: When 48 hour go order issued, CoC was told, not requested. Administration scrambled to abort. That order was overruled. This order did not originate from CoC. Repeat this order did not originate from CoC. He complied, but did not originate.
Faux News is on now extolling the gutsy call of our pretender in chief - what a crock!
Did SR Military/Intel Officials Overrule President Obama on Mission to Kill Bin Laden?

RE Osama Bin Laden. Significant push to take him out months ago. Senior WH staff resisted. This was cause of much strain between HC and Obama/Jarrett. HC and LP were in constant communication over matter both attempted to convince administration to act. Administration feared failure and resulting negative impact on president. Intel disgusted over politics over national security. Staff resigned/left. Check timeline to corroborate.

If he’s a freeper, I’d like to ping him.
It was in Clear and Present Danger, IIRC. One of the Clancy films with Harrison Ford.
Clancy’s new book Dead or Alive.
Clancy’s new book Dead or Alive.
It was taken from Tom Clancy all right, but it wasn't "Sum of All Fears". It was taken from "Patriot Games"...

No idea where he is now...he bounced around a lot.
Thank you. I was in a foul mood over this earlier in the day but now see that Bush is getting credit. You said it well.
Why are some of you ripping on the article? Yes, it’s the LA Slimes, but the piece paints this as obastard’s Dukakis moment! I *love* it!
