The circumstances surrounding Osama bin Laden's reported death raise urgent questions over how the US is so sure it got its man.
US officials have said DNA testing has proved the al Qaeda leader was killed in a villa in Pakistan.
They have also identified him by facial recognition.
But photographs of Bin Laden after his reported death have not been released.
The release of a photograph purporting to show bin Laden's corpse - which was later confirmed to be a fake - added to the confusion.
Journalists have not yet had the opportunity to ask more than a few questions of the Obama administration about details of Bin Laden's death.
The announcement is not the first time the world has heard of Bin Laden's death. Claims that the US and Britain kept up a pretence he was alive in order to continue their war on terror have been dismissed as conspiracy theories.
It has been suggested that bin Laden died nearly 10 years ago during the battle for Tora Bora in Afghanistan, either from a US bomb or from kidney disease.

This is from the FDNY FAQ on DNA:
On average, how long does it take to make a positive identification?
Positive identifications can only be made if a sample
from the victim was recovered (post-mortem sample)
and there is a known ante-mortem sample (such as a
fingerprint on file or dental x-ray from past dental visit).
In the case of DNA samples the required tests
may take several weeks to produce results. In the case
of non-DNA samples (fingerprint to fingerprint record)
the identification can be completed quickly.
I'm in the skeptical column.

This is where I'm skeptical.
Your argument keeps being made over and over when there is NO PROOF whatsover. “Birthers” will never believe so why bother? People who hate obama will never believe it was usama so why bother. Ridiculous! You offer the proof casue it is the right thing to do. If people doubt it fine but to fail to offer it over and over is bs.
Were it possible for Hussein to convince a dozen Navy seals to LIE on his behalf, I would call it quite possible that this was a phony story. But as the military hate Hussein almost as much as most other actual Americans, my guess is bin Laden really WAS killed on Sunday night.
Come on. I can’t think of any time during Zero’s four year run when this news could create LESS of a splash, politically.
If he had his druthers, he’d choose election run-ups, mid-term run-ups, gas price rises this summer, shortly after election euphoria, etc.
Just the timing alone - PLUS the military buy-in and press releases tell me the story is 100% accurate.
Is that reputable like Dan Rather and his TANG memos or Newsweek and their Koran down the toilet reputable?
“Can anything associated the The Won ever be proved?
I don’t think so. “
Well said, well said.
Your rationality is not welcome here. /s
If I had the time, I’d check to make sure none of these ODS doubters post in the “We got ‘em because of Gitmo and the Bush doctrines!” threads.
Not that they’d understand why that would make no sense though.
Exactly. I mean, since we never made contact with the guy before, how are you telling me there is a DNA sample on hand to compare with? Really.
My point is not that OBL is alive, but to say “I trust the SEALs!” is foolish. A SEAL will not talk to the press about this operation unless they are cleared to or ordered to.
His sister died in the US, and we have some samples from her.
Even Obama is not going to risk everything on a lie that could be so easily overturned. Besides it has been confirmed by Al Jazeera and the Afghan government who would like nothing more than to embarrass the US over this.
It’s funny how people will believe whatever they wish to believe.
The folks who thought Binny to be dead for years are really having a hard time. I thought he was probably dead, but have no problem believing he was alive until the Seals got him. I’ve been wrong about enough things in my life to be prepared for my mistakes.
I wish to believe Binny is dead and I don’t care when he died. But if I had to bet hard money, I’d put that money on this latest operation. Setting up this kind of a lie is rather hard to do without risk of eventual exposure. That’s a risk not worth taking.
If I was Obama and setting up a false Binny death, I would time it for about October 15, 2011.
Portable DNA machines give results in one hour.

From the UK Times.
But you’ll have to admit that getting rid of the evidence as they did, and especially considering the fact that the so-called President is a known liar, people might have questions.
Ping to another inconsistency.
1. The on-sight (Contemporaneous) blogger [Best Evidence, and that twitter record need locked down and saved] reported that the helicopter that was fired on LEFT THE AREA and was being chased. (He also only reported one chopper).
2. The first reports were that the helicopter landed in the compound but special forces destroyed it rather than leaving it behind, because it took damage during the descent.
3. This new picture does not match either of the previous stories, and tells a new one - that the copter “crashed” (In fact the rear of the chopper is on the wall) under heavy RPG fire.
(Which I must assume was being done by the OBL, his son, 2 men and 1 woman - being the only people in the compound, according to reports.)

Quantum leaping.
Rationality requires objectivity.
This is acceptable evidence, assuming the machine exists (I lean this way) and that the report was not stuck in the paper and back dated (never an impossibility, remember).
Probably the technology exists.
