LOS ANGELES (AP) -- California lawmakers are the latest to consider joining efforts in other states to gain local control over a controversial national program that automatically checks the immigration status of arrestees.
California accounts for more than a third of the deportations under the Immigration and Customs Enforcement program, and some local officials say they were misled by the federal government about the program's extent.

This from CA, no big surprise.
How dare you little people question us...what are you, republicans?
On any other issue, California have no qualms about forcing locals to send the feds all kinds of information...
...and FReepers would be vigorously opposing it.
How else can they win the class warfare campaign with producers alive to vote against it? After all, the illegal alien gang banging murderers continue to vote from state prison, just like they did from their City government free welfare housing, while keeping the prison guard's union in the chips with overtime and cell phone smuggling.

CA: rapidly proceeding to a very warm place ... in a handbasket ... on greased skids
Locals. A novel concept. Based upon years of running the door at the local Bars.
May we let California become an independent nation?? I think the citizens lost it, now.
Ping!
Immigration is a Federal responsibility but it's become a state burden.
CA wastes $1.1 billion per year on criminal aliens. Not all of the new incarcerations of criminal aliens, more than 100,000 in 2009 alone, are eligible for Federal reimbursement. In fact, the Feds reimbursed just 8% of the total cost to house criminal aliens in CA.
Criminal aliens average seven arrests and charges on 12 offenses. They should take their criminal activity back to their native lands!
