Nah, he isn't going to do confiscation. He's not that dumb.
Think of more of a "death by a thousand cuts" scenario instead.
1.) Lots of executive orders to restrict things like foreign ammo and foreign weapons.
2.) A flurry of "re-interpretation" of law by the BATFE. Keep everyone guessing if they are violating laws. You could become a felon overnight and not even realize it. Combine this with super aggressive enforcement of those laws to make people worry about being the next unlucky guy. They'll pick off people one by one and make examples of them as well.
3.) Get friendly governors, state senators, and mayors to introduce a ton of antigun legislation to overwhelm our defenses. Think of an attack on a very broad front with all of the usual stuff like assault weapon bans, microstamping, etc.
Like I said, Obama isn't that dumb. Just waiting us out in his first term demonstrates this fact, in my opinion.
One more thing that Obama seems to realize all too well: If he tries to pass federal laws restricting firearms, it is costly, difficult, and will probably fail. Executive orders and using the BATFE work far more efficiently for his needs. If he tries to pass a law, HE has to work hard and will probably fail. One little problem though, Executive orders have to be rooted in law already passed.And then we have the 2nd amendment that gets in the way.
Obama wants to open that can of worms? I hope he does, for nothing could galvanize the right more quickly than such an issue. I hope he tries his death by a thousand cuts, it will only increase conservative patriot election turn out to close to 100%.
