Having deflected questions so far regarding how much he knew about a federal project suspected of allowing guns sold in the U.S. to be illegally smuggled to Mexico, Attorney General Eric Holder is under fire again, this time from the National Rifle Association, a conservative group with a loud voice and influence in Washington.
Sources tell Fox News that NRA Executive Director Wayne LaPierre will call for Holder's resignation in a Saturday morning speech at the NRA's annual meeting in Pittsburgh.
LaPierre has criticized Holder's handling of "Project Gunrunner." The program of the Justice Department's Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is intended to stop the flow of guns to criminals in Mexico, but whistleblowers claim the bureau actually encouraged the illegal sale of firearms to known criminals, then allowed those guns to be smuggled to Mexico and tracked.
The practice of knowingly allowing guns to "walk" -- or be sold to straw buyers and then transferred to criminal organizations -- is against ATF policy. However, at least 15 ATF whistleblowers claim the agency, with the approval of Holder's Department of Justice, encouraged gun stores to make sales to questionable buyers, then failed to interdict the weapons.
According to Mexican authorities, at least 1,800 of those weapons were successfully smuggled into Mexico, where the cartels used them to commit crimes and foment violence.
What especially galls and upsets U.S. gun owners is this: While the ATF was allegedly sending guns south, hoping to eventually bust the entire trafficking organization, Obama administration officials, including President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, were partly blaming U.S. gun stores for the violence in Mexico.

> Holder should resign for many reasons.
Yes, but any reason is as good as another, as long as he’s out.
Well said!
Yes, but this is an easy one to explain to the masses...:^)
Holder won’t resign, but that isn’t the end of things.
The NRA should then ask the House to open an investigation of Gunrunner, and ask Holder to testify. If he refuses that, and he will, then the House should vote to subpoena Holder.
Odds are, Obama will refuse, claiming “executive privilege”, or some such tripe. Then the House should cite Holder for contempt of congress. Since Holder directs the Just Us Department, this should force him to appoint a special prosecutor, but he won’t.
And *then*, finally, the House should IMPEACH Holder, which they can do with a simple majority. Yes, cabinet officers can be impeached, though only one ever was.
Of course, there is no way the Senate will do a 2/3rds majority to convict Holder, but he will be ruined as Attorney General. Obama will have little choice but to fire him, though he probably won’t. But it will bar Holder from holding any future government office, and will make his name ‘mud’ for public or even private employment.
Or Holder or Obama could cave at any point in the process, and that would be the end of Holder.
I believe you’re right on every point.
Holder won’t resign. Obama won’t fire him. The Senate won’t convict him but the House would impeach him. If all this took place Holder would be a joke, of course he already is but the public would know it then.
Don’t forget citing him for contempt of congress. That is something they could do that would ruin him as Attorney General.
He’s one of the “our peeps” so he won’t be going anywhere. They got a Country to destroy and they’re well on their way.
Glad to hear the NRA is attempting to remove this criminal.
This is the first NRA decision that I have agreed with in a while. Man this holder is one bad apple.
LLS
Acts of war against Mexico, and attempted Treason against the 2nd amendment, resignation???
Get a Rope!!!
Bump!
“Yes, but any reason is as good as another, as long as hes out.”
And then Obama appoints Jamie Gorelick.
Good time for the “Ahh not this $hit again” poster.
From the above link:
“The new head of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is pushing for screenings of all gun purchases. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said the current law, which allows private firearm sales without background checks, is “outrageous.” The Florida Democrat is sponsoring a soon-to-be-released proposal extending the screening requirements to all gun purchases, commercial or private. “It is outrageous that gun buyers evade the background check system every day, even in broad daylight,” Wasserman Schultz said Monday at a gun reform rally in Miami sponsored by Mayors Against Illegal Guns......”
Interesting how the DNC is planning on presenting themselves as if ‘Project Gunrunner’ never happened.
This woman is a joke any time she opens her mouth.
The Rats better get someone a lot saner than Wasserman-Schultz if they want to make any headway, she’s certifiably nuts.
> And then Obama appoints Jamie Gorelick.
While it’s true that the commie impostor will just appoint another commie apparatchik, every cabinet member forced to resign for his blatant disregard of the Constitution exposes the commie apparatchik-in-chief to more skeptic scrutiny, thereby lessening the chances of foisting this commie cabal of charlatans upon the American people for another four years.
That may well be the case. But at whose calculation was she selected, and WHY is her agenda driven about 'gun' sales? There is a method to their madness when the pieces of the puzzle is put together. AND why has not the NRA been all over her agenda in light of the 'Project Gunrunner' allegations. The mass media sure is not capable of connecting dots they have to serve their idol.
The NRA had better start paying attention. Of course we know the enemedia will only encourage her and the gun grabbers but The WA Times did have an editorial on this tonight.
