FRANKLIN — The MIAA Field Hockey Committee voted, 12-0, yesterday in favor of a rule change that will limit the role of boys in a girls’ sport.

Saying, “I’m sick of boys dominating the game,’’ Gloucester field hockey coach and athletic director Kim Patience was one of many committee voices in support of limiting what boys may do in the sport. The three-part rule, which could go into effect this fall if adopted by the Board of Directors at its June 9 meeting, says:

Ugh... this is why boys and girls should not be playing against one another in physical sports.

When girls play on a boys team, they add "diversity" and make things "better".

When boys play on a girls team, they "dominate" and make it "not fun".

The underlying message here is that Title IX is a joke in terms of equality. Title IX really is just “separate but equal”, but sex of the person is the line of division, and not race.

Get rid of Title IX.

That’s funny, since when is field hockey solely a girls’ sport. In the Olympics its played by men AND women.

Since we’re in the USA, and not Pakistan. Here, it’s a girls sport.

Yep, Title IX is not equality - it is tyranny.

...said, in words that she will regret when she's fired for violating existing zero tolerance policies and laws.

Field hockey (aka lacrosse) is a very physical sport in which there is a lot of body checking for the boys teams. Girls are not allowed to from what I understand.

Actually, Title IX stands for “separate but MORE equal” as far as women are concerned. Despite being the majority of college students, no women’s sport will ever be cut to redress that inbalance when applied to sports programs, despite the fact they lose money for the school. Some pigs are more equal than others.

Field hockey and lacrosse are two different animals, entire. Lacrosse has a stick with a basket on the end, field hockey has stick with a short curved blade. Look them up.

Men's lacrosse involves body checking, and the boys tend to sharpen the leading edge of the head, the net thingy, that mounts on the stick, (you buy them separately), to better draw blood from the other side.

Women's field hockey is pretty girls running around playing "Statue" (The Ref blows her whistle about every 20 seconds and everyone has to freeze in place...), with a small ball somewhere out there.

Due to Title IX, the commies on campus are trying to equate apples and pineapples, and wondering why they aren't a good fit. Both games have a field, goals and a small ball, they aren't the same?

Piss away two years at a small liberal arts college in Vermont and you'll learn these things...

The state’s Equal Rights Amendment is the reason the courts have blocked past MIAA efforts to keep boys from playing. But this change allows boys to play while restricting where they can go on the field.

The change still discriminates based on the sex of the player. Sue them! Let's show how much an Equal Rights Amendment can cut both ways.

“Since we’re in the USA, and not Pakistan. Here, it’s a girls sport.”

It’s played by men elsewhere, notably Australia. There if you say ‘hockey’ that’s what’s meant. You’d have to say ‘ice hockey’ to mean what we normally mean.
