the date 1961 has been altered, the 1 is not the same inking device as the rest of the number. It appears to have been hand written It's plausible to me that the stamp only had the first three digits of the year and the last digit had to be written in. It would be a way to make the stamp last longer. It had rotating sections for the month, the two digits of the day and for the year. So they could get one for the 1960's (1960-1969), or they could get one for the 20th century or some period longer than 10 years (195-199). Just a thought.
