Ping to today’s severe weather thread.
This watch has the same probabilities as yesterday’s PDS watch in NE Texas.
And it’s only 11:15 local. Gonna be a long, long day.

HSV has another tornado warning and is under a severe flash flooding warning. Schools are closing. This is the worst weather I can remember and I have lived here since 1966.

From Wiki:
Terminal velocity of hail, or the speed at which hail is falling when it strikes the ground, varies by the diameter of the hail stones. A hail stone the size of 8 centimetres (3.1 in) in diameter fall at a rate of 48 metres per second (110 mph).
WOW. That means that the updrafts are 110mph+...probably much more + !! Thats SOME energy!

Our local meteorologist, Jym Ganahl, in Columbus, Ohio, said yesterday that the storms moving in tonight have the same factors as the storms that produced the deadly F5 Xenia tornado in 1974.

I live in NE Mississippi near the confluence of MS/Tn/Al. Since this morning at 3am we've had six Tornado warnings and numerous Thunderstorm warnings. We also are in a high flash flood area. Last year this same time (May 1) we had the town flooded out and tornadoes damaging a bunch of property.

Getting pretty dark here in Knoxville. They have school closings in the area. I can’t think of anytime schools have closed due to predicted non-winter storms.

TWO Tornados cut through the center of Colman, Alabama, at the same time. Pictures and video all over the net of them. Birmingham TV was showing them live.

Live in NE Alabama near Georgia. We had a huge wind even at 6-7 a.m. this morning. Hundreds of trees down, power lines, houses damaged, in our community. I think a small tornado went through. The trees look twisted and a lot were topped off. Our road is covered with power lines. We got power back on our end of the road at 2 pm. Lost it around 7 this morning. Our church had several huge trees get knocked down. Just heard on Channel 33/40 that a large church in Cullman, AL was totally destroyed eariler. Going to be an exciting night.
