Please, this makes us look ridiculous. You do realize that in Article II the way YOU define it, almost all of the first 15 presidents we had were illegitimate....you do realize this, right?
No Person except a natural born Citizen, OR a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
So at the time of adoption of the Constitution, there was no one that satisfied the clause hence the OR.
They were all new Citizens of the new Country and it would be a minimum of 35 Years until anyone could fully satisfy the clause.
