Ron Paul, man for the times, announces exploratory on Hannity
The US Report ^ | Apr. 26, 2011 | Kay Day

Posted on 04/26/2011 7:43:00 AM PDT by Crush

Texas Congressman Ron Paul appeared on the Sean Hannity Show on Monday, and the Libertarian leaning Republican confirmed possibilities for a 2012 presidential run.

“We are going to announce I’m going to form an exploratory committee,” Paul said. That announcement will presumably happen, according to Politico, on Tuesday afternoon in Iowa at the Holiday Inn near the Des Moines airport.

Paul is making the talk show rounds, appearing on programs like 'Fox and Friends' and dropping by the chatty den 'The View'. Along the way, Paul is also promoting and signing his latest book, ‘Liberty Defined.’

On 'Fox and Friends' Tuesday morning Paul pointed out two of the biggest problems in the U.S.—“militarism and welfarism.” He rightfully said the Federal Reserve does not have constitutional authority to print money and as far as a theme goes, not much has changed for Paul over the years.

“Freedom is the issue,” he said. Asked about the issue of “militarism,” Paul posed a question: “What if China did to us what we do in other countries?”

Paul’s dialog with Hannity was the most substantive, with the congressman responding to questions about entitlements, the war in Libya and troops in Saudi Arabia. Paul wants to “address spending overseas” and that approach will resonate with fiscal conservatives. He gave a nod to former CIA analyst-turned author Michael Scheuer as “the most knowledgable person about Osama bin Laden.” Scheuer, like Paul, has a non-interventionist platform on matters such as Libya.

Asked about the desire by some to introduce aspects of Sharia law into the judicial system, Paul said, “We have to defend our principles.” He does however acknowledge the right of the developer at the Ground Zero Mosque to put the building there. Paul said the mosque is “a private property issue” and we shouldn’t believe...

You can call yourself a radical or whatever you like. I couldn't care less. I didn't say the Founders called themselves conservatives, however. In fact the phrase "Founding Fathers" was coined by Sen Warren G. Harding at the GOP convention in 1916!

The Founders were in the middle of fighting a revolution and creating a Constitutional Republic. So I'd call everyone from Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, to the rank and file soldiers, sailors and all the rest, revolutionaries and patriots.

Today the optimum or equivalent term would be, Constitutional Conservative. That would return America to limited government, lower taxes, strong military defense with a focus on life and liberty for all.

>>>>>I want radical change from the conservative safety net..

There is no such thing as a conservative safety net. You're pissing in the wind with that BS. If you want to roll back the welfare state, fine. So do I.

Conservatives are whiners.. and why I'm a radical..
Conservatives are moderates.. Washington D.C. requires radical changes not moderate ones..
Most federal and state gov't workers are moderates.. they want their scam to continue..

Conservatives are for the status quo.. BECAUSE thats what conservative MEANS..
They want few and ...slow... if ANY change..

Any that think Washington D.C. needs merely conservative change don't know the situation..

If that is the way you really feel...

...wth are you doing on FRee Republic?

Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

FRee Republic is a conservative website/forum. You belong over at LibertyPost, or one of the other libtard sites.

FR is about a Free republic.. not a conservative free republic..
In a free republic you can be conservative or radical..

FRee Republic's frontpage says it all:

Like I said, when you trash conservatism, you trash FRee Republic. Your rhetoric is straight out of the libertarian comicplaybook. You're a Ronpaultard crackpot.
