Wherefore Art Thou Romeo? Woman Offers $100K In Dognapping Case
April 25, 2011 3:30 PM
CORONA DEL MAR (CBS) Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? thats the question an Orange County woman is asking after her Chihuahua was stolen in what she calls a politically motivated attack.
Carole Rudat says her beloved dog, Romeo, was stolen from her Newport Beach backyard in August 2010. She is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the safe return of her dog.
Ive been told by a professional detective that this is often done to send a message to back off what your doing, said Rudat. Its done in business and its done in politics.
Rudat says Romeo went missing days before she filed papers to run in the 2010 Orange City Council election. She believes Romeo was taken by unnamed people who did not want her to run for office.
A spokesman for Orange police say a report was taken from Rudat in August of 2010, but there was no evidence that the Chihuahua was stolen.
Rudat is also offering a $100,000 reward for the conviction of any elected official involved with or with knowledge of Romeos dognapping.
Its not any different than the kidnapping of children. This is my family member. This is a grieving process, Rudat said.
The campaign to find the 4-year-old chocolate brown and white pooch has also spread to Facebook and YouTube.

He is not good with small children because they scare him. He WILL bite.
He is also fearful of men.
Romeo needs veterinary medical treatment every 3 or so months
He DOES NEED to have his anal glands cleaned by a vet every couple of months or they will erupt!
anal glands need cleaning
Hmmmmmm....I just found another reason to punt Chihuahuas.
Full name: Arfa Romeo
Coyote chow.
...to back off what your doing....

Do any of these so-called journalists proofread?
And I just skimmed the piece. There are probably many more errors.
The writer of this article does not know what “wherefore” means.
“Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
thats the question an Orange County woman is asking after her Chihuahua was stolen in what she calls a politically motivated attack.”
Maybe the author was quoting it exactly as the Ms. Rudat said it. Maybe the mistake was Ms. Rudat's. ;o)
I’ve found that hardly anyone knows what “wherefore” means these days, and many journalists are not all that bright judging by a typical article about guns, for example. So I’m not too surprised that a journalist fouled this one up.
I know, wherefore isn’t used very often nowadays, so it doesn’t shock me that a journalist doesn’t know what it means. What irks me is that someone would choose to start off an article about a stolen dog with “Romeo, Romeo, wharefore art thou Romeo?” without bothering to find out what the heck that means.
Maybe the mistake was Ms. Rudat’s. ;o)
%%
Well, I think we could hang it on the woman quoted only if she submitted her comment on paper/in email. In which case, “sic” would have been an appropriate insertion.
