Not at all unexpected; after all, that’s what Stalin would have done.

We didn’t have a shortage of gas in the late ‘70’s, either. It was a government screwup.

In their desperation to get prices down, this administration will unwittingly set off a series of events that leads to lines.

Yup. And the useful idiots fall for it every time.

I can't count the number of arguments I've had with people at work who are positive that the American oil companies are manipulating world prices.

What? Desperation to get prices down? They don't want prices to drop. They want them to escalate. That's been clear from before his election. No drilling, shutting down drilling in the Permian basin in Texas, investigating supposed price gouging, proposing the end of oil and gas subsidies, suggesting those who can't afford the price of gas should buy fuel-efficient 'green' vehicles. There's no interest in this administration to get gas prices down to a reasonable level. None. This government wants high gas and oil prices because they want to change the face of America.

I know they want prices to go up. But that won’t go as planned, they can’t predict the rate of increase. Then they will try to limit the damage—like short-term price controls to appear that they are helping the average Joe. They are going to mess that up and we will end up in lines.

Info Ammo for your arguments.

Combined taxes in Connecticut was over $.60 per gallon when I moved from there in '05.

Federal tax is steady at 18.4 cents per gallon which is roughly twice the profit BIG OIL makes from a gallon of gas.

I agree with where you think they’ll go, but I don’t agree on the gas lines issue. At least not during this election cycle. We have a sufficient supply of gas in the short term, and that will be extended if consumers continue to drive less. Meanwhile the price is being held artificially high by the markets (Obama’s buddies on Wall Street), and that won’t change anytime soon. The only thing that will make for long lines is if/when the supply itself dwindles.

But....but.....Bill O'Reilly tells us that the high gas prices are due to those evil capitalistic "speculators".

Ocommie tells us it's due to those evil capitalistic oil companies.

Oh, what a dilemna....which one to believe....oh, oh, oh.

So how long till he pull’s a Chavez and nationalizes the oil companies?

After all, the resources belong to the people and we can’t have evil companies determining our destiny... (heavy sarcasim).

Tax breaks are NOT subsidies.

Stop letting the left set the terms of the debate. Stealing more from the oil companies means less jobs.

When they are not sure what to do, they demonize. That is the solution to all of their problems.
