Trump Bashes Obama, Questions Qualifications for Ivy League

NEW YORK -- Real estate mogul Donald Trump suggested in an interview Monday that President Barack Obama had been a poor student who did not deserve to be admitted to the Ivy League universities he attended. Trump, who is mulling a bid for the Republican presidential nomination, offered no proof for his claim but said he would continue to press the matter as he has the legitimacy of the president's birth certificate.

"I heard he was a terrible student, terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?" Trump said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I'm thinking about it, I'm certainly looking into it. Let him show his records."

Obama graduated from Columbia University in New York in 1983 with a degree in political science after transferring from Occidental College in California. He went on to Harvard Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude 1991 and was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review.

Obama's 2008 campaign did not release his college transcripts, and in his best-selling memoir, "Dreams From My Father," Obama indicated he hadn't always been an academic star. Trump told the AP that Obama's refusal to release his college grades were part of a pattern of concealing information about himself.

Yes and financial sponsor of Obama, Prince Alwaleed, is today and has been since 1999(?) the largest single private shareholder of Citigroup, which was at the top of the bailout list by Secretaries Paulson and Geithner (apart from GSEs Fanny and Freddie.) The prince also controls hotel chains, Four Seasons and Fairmount. No crony capitalism here however /s.

What Trump is doing is getting inside Obama's head and breaking his concentration, maybe in the hopes of getting under Obama's skin to the point where Obama goes off script and makes a big mistake in public.
Trump knows Obama is a lightweight and is toying with him.

Trump is definitely trying to psych him out and Trump has had lots of practice at this given the kind of businesses he is in. Try building in New York City or building a hotel or a gambling palace. You have to do business with a million liars and unsavory characters. Trump has Obama's number! And Obama knows it. Obama knows he is doomed if the Donald runs.

Absolutely I know it.

I just wonder why the “he doesn't belong here, he is affirmative action” stigma doesn't seem to extend to “he doesn't belong here, he is a legacy”.

Really, as far as stigma - I would be mortified to think I was born with all the advantages (I wasn't) but still needed a ‘handicap’ in order be a success (I didn't).

I mean just how lame is one who is born into a house of college graduates with boucoup money and they still cannot pull much over 1200 on the SAT’s or get a good GPA - but that is A-OK because they are your daddies spoiled little baby - so they still get to go to Yale and Harvard?

I am not saying “it isn't FAIR!” as much as I am pointing out “That is SO LAME!”.

As to the Ivy Leagues being a place for “well connected legacy students” I agree that this is indeed one of the ‘hooks’ justifying the expense.

And yes, and hopefully they got their monies worth when their child gets all A’s that don’t really mean anything (because EVERYBODY gets an A) and meets ‘the best and the brightest’ for an orgy of Ivy League schmoozing.

For myself, I went to University to LEARN. Nobody in my career has asked or cared about who I knew, they cared about what I know and what I can do.

But then again I was learning science. Scientists seem to not care so much if you don’t “summer” with the right people, they care about what you know, what you can do, and what we can all learn from it.

ROTFL! Well, since the MSM has been so forthright in sharing Sarah Palin's college information, using the "public's right to know" argument, it seems only logical that they'd be perfectly willing to share the same info about Obama. That is, if they can get their hands on it. And if they can't, their viewers, readers and listeners should be asking WHY NOT?

The difference is that George W. Bush released his records, and never made any claims to be a good student. Legacy students have been accepted at Harvard and Yale since the beginning.

All we've heard from the MSM since Obama announced his candidacy is how brilliant he is, though as far as I know, no one has ever seen his school records. They've also written and talked about how wonderful his time at Harvard was, being the Editor of the Harvard Law Review, and all. The fact that he never wrote ONE THING for the publication seems to have slipped their collective mind.

He stated on the application that he had never used another name the the one he was using....IIRC it was one of the charges made when the people of Illinois started impeachment procedures (While he was a Senator).

You’ll find the complete information on this thread. (sorry don’t have time tonight to look up ...Thinks it’s in the first 200 posts.

Not to worry, Ann, dear. The Saudis will pay for his education . . . and an utterly compliant media will paper over the rest.

Now, let’s watch the MSM try to defend 0bama!

He still got in because of “affirmative action” for the well to do - namely “legacy” admissions. He said as much himself.

I think it a testament to Bush's competence that the present administration has continued in policies it roundly condemned when running. I just wonder at why there is no similar social stigma for being a legacy admission as there is for being an affirmative action admission.

Which is what makes it so entertaining.

Ivy's & most private universities don't accept solely based on grades.

They recruit based on "diversity"...
